That’s 8.7. Million. People.
To put it in perspective, Justin Bieber’s Vine is followed by 1.7 million.
The 16-year-old (he was born in 1997 to make you feel extra old) is one of a growing trend of photogenic kids who seem to blow up social media with selfies and short videos, gaining fame and the potential for actual money along the way.

And normally we wouldn’t report on a 16-year-old being homophobic, except that there were 8.7 million people listening when ‘lil Nashy posted something not only stupid (also not news since all his posts are stupid) but homophobic, misinformed and insulting.
The post was taken down, but not before it could get reposted by another Youtuber, Tyler Oakley. For his part, Tyler has built up quite the social media following himself.

Assuming that the vast majority of those 8.7 million followers are young people in this country, we hope Tyler wasn’t the only one who took offense.

Vines surge in the user base over 3 months is pretty suspect, all things considered, and there is a lot of screwing around with add revenue numbers on the Internets, and always has been. And people, primarily in the Asian countries and acting covertly, can litterally be paid a penny or so each to make it their full time jobs to create false user accounts using various scripts to make a website appear to have more registered users than they really do.
But the actual website tracking numbers of real user IP hits are harder to mass fudge like that, which is probably why the article I linked was questioning it.

@Stache99: lol yea, I’m trolling because I stated the obvious when it comes to some young people still being homophobic, gays overreacting to this stupid nobody, and HIV being a problem within the gay community. I love the “multiple accounts” accusations that tend to show up on gay sites whenever a number, albeit a very small one, of people disagree. For one, it would be a waste of time to create a second account given that the first one is on good standing. Second, making a second account on any site runs the risk of getting your IP checked by the sites owners and being permanently banned.

Queerty is practically troll heaven. One or two of them create multiple accounts and go largely unopposed as long as they don’t do anything to threaten Queerty’s advertising dollars. One good example of that.. Jim Bryant. He gets banned and just comes back under different aliases.
