Neither New York Senator Is Backing Michael Bloomberg for NYC Mayor

Both Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand are opting to support William Thompson Jr. instead of the two-term incumbent, who’s been highkicking his foot into his mouth lately. That’s not to say either U.S. senator from New York doesn’t like Michael Bloomberg. It’s just that he’s a Republican, and they have to fall into party lines and back the Dem.

You should correct this post. Bloomberg is not a Republican. He was a Democrat from the time he could vote until 2001, at which point he switched parties simply to run for the mayor’s office. In 2007 he renounced his standing in the Republican party, claiming that he could no longer be associated with the Republicans. He is currently an independent.
