Rick Ross: Sorry Gays!
Miami rapper Rick Ross made it on to Queerty‘s list of “Hip Hop’s Homophobic Haters,” courtesy his video brawling with 50 Cent, where they post sparring clips aimed at each other on the web, which are laced with terms like “faggot” and “suck a dick.” (We’re not quoting verbatim; we can’t get through most of those videos.) But has Ross turned a corner? Apprised of how his language might be, uh, horrendously offensive, the rapper issued an apology.
“I heard I offended the homosexual community recently with terms I’ve been using the last few weeks — terms, like ‘fags,’ ‘punks,’ ‘homos,’ gays,’ we all know. And what I want to say is I apologize. I sincerely apologize to the gay community, to the people I offended with the words like ‘fags,’ ‘gays,’ ‘punks.’ You know, words like that. I apologize. And just to let the gay community know how sincere I am with my apologies, I’m offering and willing to do a record with a openly gay artist such as Curly, Curtis Jackson, 50 Cent. We all know he’s gay. I’m willing to do a song … even Elton John … both two great gay artists … so I apologize to the gay community. That’s from the boss … Now all the gays, we good. Peace.”
Raise your hand if you think that’s the end of Ross feuding with Kanye by calling him a “fag.”

Gee, something about this apology makes it seem not entirely sincere… could that be???
Yet he’s still calling 50 cent gay. Why, might I ask, unless he views
that as a putdown, and MSM encounters as inherently shameful and
degrading? I don’t need his patronizing apology, nor does some
mythic/monolithic “community” he concieves of as gunning for him. At
least Guns’n'Rose’s were upfront.

This is your problem: your outrage over racism prevents you from seeing that white artists of this stature are less likely to express homophobia this openly in 2009. You disagree? Provide the examples that prove otherwise. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.
