The announcement that truTV had acquired the rights to all seven seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race was made this Thursday through a series of tweets by both @RuPaul and @truTVUK. The acquisition has also been confirmed by a variety of American and British publications.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Jane Mote, Turner Broadcasting UK’s channel director of general entertainment, said: “RuPaul’s Drag Race is an entertaining, outrageous show packed full of larger-than-life characters with a balance of humour and warmth that our viewers love.
“It’s a perfect fit for truTV, complementing the existing slate and showcasing the channel’s sense of fun.
How about we take this to the next level?

“We’re really excited to become its TV home in the UK and to be working with [distribution company] Passion and creators and producers World of Wonder to spread the RuPaul love to new audiences.”
The series will begin airing in June, starting with RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 4, on Freeview channel 68, Sky channel 565 and FreeSat channel 154. truTV will also air the show’s accompanying behind-the-scenes series Untucked.
According to Broadcast, this is the largest acquisition deal to date for truTV UK, which is owned by Turner Broadcasting UK. Werk!
