Eurovision is a strange place to stage anti-gay protests. Sure, lots of musicians are gay, but so are a lot of other people in other prominent professions. Why single out Eurovision?

i agree with bitch republic that this is a weird place for anti-gay protest. its not a gay event, perhaps just because of the publicity?

eurovision has a HUGE gay fan base.
I'm sure gay people are the only ones who watch Eurovision. When I lived in Europe, everyone I knew derided it, but I thought it was great fun. I still don't think it's a very appropriate place for anti-gay protests. The gay viewers aren't going to become anti-gay because of the protests.

EuroVision is incredibly camp, and a lot of the entrants are usually gay. So, add in all that publicity, and it kind of makes sense that they'd want to protest it.
It's true that no one in Europe takes it seriously, but everyone still watches it!
Are they pissed that a Serbian lesbian won last year and that is why Eurovision has to go the Serbia?
The pain, the pain.
