What It Took To Get Davey Wavey To Go Naked In Palm Springs
“I think that gay men make nudity really sexual, and really cruise-y.” Wise words of advice from Davey Wavey, who’s enjoying some leisure time at a clothing-optional resort in Palm Springs, and has clearly devoted some deep thoughts to what it means to be naked, in public, around other gay men. “Nudism is about not objectifying the human body, but I think that gay nudity is the exact opposite.” Cue Davey finally stripping down.

While I do not dislike Davey, I think he tries to sound deeper than he really is. And to answer his question, no I dont think gay men sexualize nudity, it’s just the same as if a straight guy were to go to a nudist camp all go “gaga” over all the naked women. Its just perhaps that gay men (usually?) are more overt as to what they want…

I have brought up this same issue of nudity in the gay scene many time and ALWAYS shot down with ,” Loosen up!”. The thing is I grew up in a hippy dippy family, naked half my life, at swimming areas with loads of naked sun bathers. But like you said and I have said many times, when you through in the GAY, things change. I was also in Palm strings recently and stayed at clothing optional resort. About every topic was, So when are you getting naked, get naked, don’t be prude, commented about big feet, sex and all those fun gay faces you made. I, Accidental Bear am on your side D!!

As a card carrying nudist since 1984 and having lived and worked in a nudist “resort” I can say to rodrigo (comment#22) that his point about straight men is EXACTLY why most family oriented places refuse to let in single men. The women definately don’t like the fresh meat mentality presented to them by the Hustler/Playboy crowd. Also, most women look nothing like the ones in magazines. As for the gay oriented resorts, most MEN don’t mind being percieved as a tasty chunk of hot beef by another guy. That being said, the type of people who enjoy nudity at a gay resort are the kind that scare the Davey’s of the world away…. older,heavier,hairy & horney. We remind them that thier twinky bodies will, dare I say it,AGE! Kinda like the line in Titanic where Helen Hunt coments about the image in the mirror of hers that was brought up. Kinda like those damn mirrors in my home keep showing this old guy looking back at me.

I don’t believe that gays make nudism any more sexual than straight people do. That being said, I never want to see Davey naked.
