Arbiter of good taste Fox News doesn’t need a reason to go after the White House, but the White House just gave it one: Outing the network as a member of the GOP.
There were no raised eyebrows White House communications director Anita Dunn’s comments to lazy media pundit Howard Kurtz on CNN’s Reliable Sources. Well, at least none at the substance of what she was saying. But to blatantly brand FNC as “a wing of the Republican party”? Those are fighting words. (The fun starts around the 1:30 mark.)
It’s only Monday morning, so Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity haven’t yet had a chance to run the clip and respond in turn. But we fully expect lots of expounding on the White House’s own misinformation campaigns. Which are, at least, adorable.

So, which cable “news” channel is the network arm of the Democratic party? I’m not sure there is one. But, there should be.
For hundreds of years, “news” publishers have slanted their coverage to match their personal opinion, or to further their financial interests. There is nothing new about that. In most cities, there used to be several competing papers. Each would push its own editorial slant through its “news” coverage.
The real news in this story may be that some people did not understand the process. They act like they are surprised to realize that a “news” channel could be used to push propaganda.
