Oh look, another super fun case of bullying. Meet Kristian, a Muslim whose classmates called him a terrorist at his Staten Island middle school. At first the taunts included calling him gay. The abuse only ended when he graduated — but upon arriving as a freshman in high school, he spotted two of his tormentors in his class; he didn’t go back to school. Teachers and other students witnessed the bullying. The 16-year-old at last went to his father and police; his four bullies were arrested on charges of assault and aggravated harassment as hate crimes. [photo: NYDN]

While I won’t so much as condone spanking a child, there comes a point when discipline is necessary…at least for teenagers, or preteens. We’re far too soft, it’s ridiculous. We’re afraid to get in trouble with the law, of being called ‘cruel’. But if the law cared at all about these young people being harassed, and the ones doing it, they’d be more concerned about them and not the teachers, or bus drivers, or…whoever.
I remember a large male in my 10th grade math class harassing a female teacher, an elderly one at that. She simply wanted to escort him out of the room after he hit a girl; she was barely touching him…more like holding his wrist as she walked him to the hall and asked him to report to the office. Nothing dramatic happened.
But two days later, the police, parents and the whole shebang showed up and she was fired for “hurting” the 250 pound male by touching his arm. What he’d done prior to that was ignored. Students have a pact mentality, a “school sucks” attitude, and any chance they get to remove a teacher or higher level adult is taken. It’s always ‘someone else’s’ fault.
I’m the most compassionate kind of guy, and I’d say adults are usually in the wrong, but if a bunch of young guys are going to act like animals, treat them like animals.
whatever
The sad thing is that many on queerty will condone the anti-Muslim harassment because the Muzzie hate gays, or something.

This is coming from Staten Island…no shock there. Hate crimes come in second only to tanning booth’s as the areas most popular passtime.

Good for him to take the alternative and go to his parents and the police. You’re a brave Kristen!! Keep wlaking with your help up high!

@Jackson: Nope, we don’t treat minors like animals. Sorry to rain on your sick little revenge fantasy.
Hilarious
Teachers witnessed the bullying but didn’t do crap about it.
That in a nutshell is the problem right there.
If teachers hadn’t been ignoring this behavior for eons the problem of bullying wouldn’t be so ridiculous as it is now.
Teachers literally say they don’t want to get involved.
