Andy Warhol Posthumously Tricks Someone Into Paying $17 Million For Self-Portrait

What’s this Andy Warhol self-portrait worth? Oh, just a cool $17 million — at least if you’re the art patron who picked it up at a Christie’s auction. But man that buyer must feel pretty stupid: there are 10 others in the series that look just like it!

It was part of a series, that doesn’t make it worthless; instead of stupid the buyer should feel awesome (and very rich).

Warhol was known for doing multiples of everything and besides Picasso, the most successful and influential artist in the last 100 years. I only wish I had the money for that piece.

Stick to Davey Wavey, ’cause you guys know shit about art.

I think he’s being sarcastic. I’m sure he knows that the value of a Warhol isn’t diminished by the fact that it’s part of a series.

It would be nice to think that Queerty has become a medium for cultural wit (might learn something from that). It would also perplex me. I’m starting to get curious now, you might be right; the exclamation mark and the use of language are indeed somewhat over the top.
