It is unfortunate that we were not able to come to terms on the multi-year contract that we recently offered to Hollis. However, to insinuate that the failure to do so was due to bias of any kind is simply unfair and inaccurate. We are very proud of our long track record of work, through many of our brands, to support the LGBT community. We are appreciative of Hollis’s past efforts on behalf of the brand and the industry.”— A statement from Diageo, the corporation that owns the Bulleit Bourbon brand, in response to Bulleit founder’s daughter Hollis’ strong accusations of homophobia.

I read the article giving Hollis’ side of the story yesterday. Based on my own experience with the duplicitous and underhanded tactics of the well-heeled hillbillies that still make up much of corporate America – I have to believe that she’s probably very close to the cross hairs on this one.
There is no reason to believe that Diageo stands alone in its level of integrity. It may present a public image that welcomes the LGBT community, because after all they are business professionals. That in itself doesn’t mean that they don’t hate that they’re doing it. And trust me, just because the policy is out there doesn’t mean that they follow it at the management level of the company.
