Chris Christie continues to straddle the fence on gay issues, with results that are just about as unpleasant as the image that phrase conjures up.
In his latest “split the baby” moment, Christie spoke during a debate with his Democratic rival for governor, Barbara Buono, about how he would respond if one of his four children came out. Christie said he would “grab them and hug them and tell them I love them.”
You think that would be good enough, but Christie had to shore up this conservative credentials. So he went on to add “that Dad believes that marriage is between one man and one woman,”
A more touching father-child moment would be hard to imagine.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Of course, the irony is that Buono has a lesbian daughter and supports marriage equality. Buono choose not to respond to Christie’s comments, possibly because she was too busy rolling her eyes.
During the debate, Christie also noted that he would be voting for Steve Lonegan in today’s U.S. Senate race. Lonegan’s campaign has distinguished itself for its willingness to call opponent Cory Booker’s sexuality into question.
Can’t you just feel the governor’s love?

He’s no leader. He has a fat ass and a mouth at both ends. Some representative of the people! Maybe his constituents can send him to a fat pharm as a going away gift when his term is up!
Dakotahgeo
OOOoooo… did I offend? Good!

Christie said he would
“grab them and hug them and tell them I love them.”
We all know he was thinking of a KFC bucket and not his kids.

@Dakotahgeo: I’d throw him off a tanker in Japanese waters and let the harpoons finish the job.

Christie spent millions of taxpayers dollars to hold that special election today – instead of including it on the November ballot. With widespread turnout expected, he did not want to face those same voters choosing a governor along party lines.
.
When asked about the cost to taxpayers, Governor Christie said: “I don’t know what the costs are and quite frankly I don’t care”.
.
He shouldn’t be holding any public office.

Interesting. I submitted that multiple times. As soon as I removed “Demo cratic supp ort” and Cory’s name, it no longer needed attention from the mods. Odd bit of auto censoring.

Has the governor answered how the NJ gays will have access to federal and immigration benefits if they can’t get married? After all, he describes himself as gay friendly.
Very sad that he’s ahead and about to be reelected.

I myself like everyone else here, I am not fond at all of the social conservative’s actions against us. Yet at the same time, Chris Christie did very recently signed into law, a ban against ex-gay therapy in his state of New Jersey. Something that was very surprising to me considering he is a Republican. To me this shows that he has the potential to evolve in spite of the highly negative reactions he got from the religious right for doing this. In this and for now, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

@2eo: (snicker, snicker) Amore fitting name than “Moby DICK” I can’t think of. It’s not that he’s overweight, it’s just that he has such a low regard for other people… he only thinks of himself. CAN you IMAGINE him as POTUS?
ChiChi Man
In other words: I love you, but I don’t think you should have the same rights as your brothers and sister. Oh yeah, and you’ll probably burn in hell!
Thanks dad.
BJ McFrisky
@Dakotahgeo:
. . . because all fat people are evil? You’re on a mission to offend the overweight? People on this site get weirder by the day.

So he would love that gay child, but consider that child a second class person just the same? What an ignorant idiot.
Vegas Tearoom
So, realistically, the Governor of New Jersey would tell his gay child to move to New York.
LadyL
@Dakotahgeo: @2eo: Wow. I was about to make snark about Christie’s appearance, but, um… never mind… Think it’s handled.
LadyL
@ChiChi Man: @sanfranca1: Thank you. My thoughts exactly.
Teleny
He would probably burn a cross in front of his child’s yard and then commit a gay bashing on his child. This pig thinks he’s going to be president.
the other Greg
@Vegas Tearoom: “So, realistically, the Governor of New Jersey would tell his gay child to move to New York.”
Not necessarily – the kid might think, “Well if I can’t get married I’ll just be a slut.”
Dakotahgeo
@BJ McFrisky: Not at all! I weighed 385 lbs. in 1973. My Dr. gave me a choice: Lose weight or die. Plus, I quit smoking three packs of Pall Mall 100s non-filter. Today I’m alive and 230 lbs. and my Dr. is ecstatic! and so am I! It can done when one receives choices. And I wouldn’t expect anyone to vote for me politically. If one cannot control their weight under stress, what would that person be like, representing a State or country? Nope, we have too many buckaroos in government the way it is, and not add more problems to the list!
AnitaMann
But the important point is that his gay kid would probably be smart enough to know that dad is a pompous ass and would cut dad out of his life. Christie is a terrible parent and it’s a shame he was allowed to have kids since he knows nothing about being a dad and is a lousy one.
Harley
I see Christi’s the same as Cheney. At home he would love and support his gay child but must throw that same child under the bus for political expediency. It’s all about the power.
Rockery
He’s huge
BJ McFrisky
@Dakotahgeo: So you feel the same about Oprah and Rosie? You, sir, are a Bad Gay.
jwrappaport
This guy needs to stop talking out of both sides of his mastodontic ass.
Caleb in SC
And Chris Christie’s gay child would say, “Screw you, Dad!!!”
2eo
@Caleb in SC: I think you mean.
“No dad… stop calling me a box of fudge.. I’m your son.. Dad that’s my arm………………………..DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”
Dxley
@2eo: LMAO!!! Okay, that was f*cking hilarious!
Stefano
Please, stop posting comments because he is overweight ! Come on Gays ! (:-p) you are better than that ! You are like childrens in a school yard
2eo
@Stefano: If you’ll see I wasn’t posting about his weight, I genuinely believe he thinks his child is a box of fudge.
Stefano
I sometimes think that gays are worst than straight bigots. The way gays talk about others who did not think like them, upsets me. It is like a witch hunt.
2eo
@Stefano: Yeah, joking on a forum is exactly like telling your child he’s an inferior waste of life.
You know what making fun of his weight makes us.. WE ARE LITERALLY DENYING THE HOLOCAUST.
Stefano
What holocaust?
Stefano
@2eo : Did he say that his child is an inferior waste of life?
Stefano
Why gays want so much marriage? I don’t get it.
2eo
@Stefano: And there we have it. Another halfwit exposed, sadly this is a new halfwit and not just Brent.
Stefano
You are wrong 2eo. I’m gay. It is just that i don’t beleive in marriage. I’m with my boyfriend for 21 years and we don’t need marriage to tell others that we are a couple and we love each other.
BJ McFrisky
And yet again, the children who have no argument resort to name-calling.
Stefano
You are abslolutely right BJ McFrisky.
jmmartin
But will he tell his gay child to lay off the donuts?
