Innkeepers are turning out to be a surprisingly hateful bunch: After New Jersey lesbian Joianne Fraschilla shared her disappointment that a nearby inn was promoting Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, the owner replied with a vicious screed attacking the LGBT community and claiming God invented AIDS to punish the gay community.
Hmm, I wonder if they serve fresh muffins in the morning?
Fraschilla was disturbed to see a sign outside Whitebriar Bed and Breakfast in her hometown of Edgewater Park, New Jersey, that promoted the chicken chain and “One Man One Woman Marriage.” She respectfully wrote the owners on Facebook, saying, “This is somewhere my son loves to pass by and we have been excited to visit. Not anymore. I’m sad to see a local business anti LGBT marriage.”
The owner’s venomous response was hardly Christ-like:

Harassing bigots will do nothing to change their views, and it encourages other bigots to organize. Although it is reasonable to print the homophobic message and ask the public to boycott that business, any formal protest should be limited to civilized methods which don’t interfere with the owners running their business. Advising readers to call and ask about same-sex wedding discounts will only stir up the existing hornets’ nest, since it allows the owners to report crank phone calls and possibly file criminal complaints against the callers.

I am Joianne’s dad. This B&B is very close to where my daughter and her family live and as such my grandson has gone to the petting zoo several times in the past. She did NOT take him “into a hostile environment” knowingly as some people have suggested. Until the owners of this B&B put that sign out no one in the area were aware of their political/religious leanings. She merely posted on her Face Book page that she was disappointed to see a business make a HUGE PUBLIC display of their opinion and how because of is she was sad that my grandson would no longer be allowed to go there. THAT WAS IT!
To have received such a viscous and hate-filled reply by the owner of the B&B was totally uncalled for and went beyond the boundaries of a respectful discussion. As my daughter has stated since the very beginning and still does, the owners have every right to express their opinions and beliefs. However when you express your beliefs (especially with a road sign in front of your business) others have a right to express theirs. At no point in time has my daughter stooped the level of hatred that has been expressed by these people and she has gone out of her way to discourage others from doing so. In turn all she asked for is for a public apology for such hate-filled words.
I want to thank all of those who have shown you support for my daughter, you have no idea how much this means to her. I do want to ask however to please keep the discussion going in a respectful, non-threatening manner. To name call, wish any type of harm or ill will only LOWERS the discussion to the level of the owner’s reply and does nothing to advance the cause for LGBT issues in the public eye.

And as far the highest law is concerned, isn’t it just so cozy when the religious (Hateful) right picks and chooses scripture that fits their argument!? I prefer to take THE WHOLE BIBLE in it’s context and live by that. The R-R takes form Leviticus and other Hebrew texts and completely ignore what Jesus (God incarnate) said “Love your neighbor as you love yourself and love God.” That’s it. Those were the laws handed down from God directly, not some set of laws that were written by countless people as a way to control and keep in line the masses! The R-R also conveniently ignores the relationships deemed Godly by Jesus of Jonathan & David and Ruth & Naomi just to name two. No the R-R skips right over those passages when preaching or they twist the texts to say what they want them to say. It wasn’t until Constantine of Rome when same-sex relationships were thought wrong and he instituted it because of his fear of the raiders from the east, so he mocked their practices to the Romans in an attempt to make those from the east appear as some sort of monsters to them. The Catholic church then ran with with it and hence, history gets re-written. Those that tout the Bible rarely ‘study’ the WHOLE Bible.

weird how AIDS and HIV is also being associated with the lesbian community. It is true you do see lesbians marching hand in hand and supporting gay men through and through but they don’t really get it as often as gay men. Maybe the bisexual women do. Not sure. Just an observation. Always wondered if there were a disease that targeted mostly lesbians would gay men be as supportive as lesbians are when standing up to fight against AIDS. In 325 AD Roman Emperor Constantine told his scribe Eusebeus
to gather religious texts from the four corners of the Roman Empire. At that
time the empire stretched from what would later be call Great Britain to Asia.
There were dozens of religions other than Christianity, and already dozens of
variations of the Christian Religion even though the Christians represented a
very small segment of the empire.
The King James version of the New Testament was completed in
1611 by 8 members of the Church of England. At that time there were no original
texts to translate. Even now the oldest manuscripts we have were written
hundreds of years after the last apostle died. There are 8000 of these old
manuscripts and no two are alike. The King James translators used none of these
anyway, what they did was edited previous translations to create a version
their king would approve of.
So 21st century Christians believe the “word of
God” is a book edited in the 17th century of 16th century
translations of 8000 contradictory copies of 4th century scrolls from
numerous “Christian” sects that were claimed to be copies of 1st
century letters of already dead apostles.
