John McCain will attend tonight’s debate against Barack Obama, his briefly “suspended” campaign says. “The McCain campaign is resuming all activities and the senator will travel to the debate this afternoon. Following the debate, he will return to Washington to ensure that all voices and interests are represented in the final agreement, especially those of taxpayers and homeowners.” Obama and the debate commission both insisted the show would go on with or without the Republican candidate, who thought the race should stop so he could not deal with the economic crisis. Defeated.

Actually you’re reporting on this is incorrect. The head of the debate commission was interviewed this morning and made it clear that it would be illegal and against the bylaws for the debate to have gone on without McCain. Obama would be free to go elsewhere and have a “town hall” meeting of his own, but it would not have been held at the debate site or used the debate commission moderators.

ps. To be more precise it was Frank Fahrenkopf, co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates who stated the debate could not go on without McCain by law. Here’s a link to the video:

Either way, McCain lost. Bad PR move of Herr Steven Schmidt. Obama has increased his lead to 57%.

McCain is running a terrible campaign. Sarah Palin is a publicly acknowledged fool who has no business running for the vice-presidency with anyone, let alone a man who is clearly in physical decline. Yet, Obama/Biden are not the clears winners as of now. I think its because Obama is of mixed racial ancestry and many people cannot put irrational racial prejudice aside.

Really? Gallup shows them both polling even at 46%, I guess the polls are mixed. Which poll are you refering to?

In reality they are at best for Obama tied in votes if McCain and Sarah have not already captured the votes of Middle America. Anyways its going to be interesting to see how the Messiah answers questions without the four teleprompters he wants. I mean he cant can’t order a Happy Meal without it (; Perhaps that’s why after denying the American public townhall meeting debates with McCain for so long he now so urgently wants to have this one. I mean he must’ve holed-up in Clearwater, FL for days preparing for it and practicing his non-deer in the headlight and non-stuttering reactions and any delay might cause the effectiveness of this practice to be diminished.
John
I think the vast majority of voters are locked in already. They would not change if struck with a sledgehammer, even if they survived the blow, that is. Truth and facts don’t seem to matter.
I think fear and prejudice are enormously powerful in this election. My pride in being an American is diminished when I look at the polls from Utah and the former confederacy.
Thank God I live in Southern California where we’re having another beautiful day at the ocean here now that the early morning fog has burned off. I’m going to have lunch on the patio.

Unless the GOP can pull off another 9/11, Obama is the next President.
