French authorities foiled a planned terrorist attack on gay bars in Paris

During a hearing at the National Assembly, French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb made a disturbing announcement: French authorities derailed a planned terrorist attack on gay nightclubs in Paris on August 22 — one of 12 attacks thwarted since January.

The “plan of violent action” centered on “Parisian nightclubs and in particular gay clubs,” according to Collomb. He gave no further details but warned that “the threat remains high”:

“What Daesh (the Islamic State terror group) wants is to divide the national community and create clashes between French people. This is the trap into which we must not fall.”
