Photos: 'HIV Equal' Campaign Gets Support From Legendary Drag Queens

HIV Equal Campaign Drag Queen Collage

In mid-May, the HIV Equal campaign made it’s way to New York City, and some well-known faces within the drag community were in attendance.

HIV Equal is an international multimedia campaign that aims to end HIV stigma and promote HIV testing by creating a social art movement. At the events, the photographers take photos of attendees and then put the words “Everybody has an HIV status. We are all HIV equal” across the top of the photo. Then, the person being photographed gets to select a one-word “status” to place in the lower right hand corner of the photo. The options are endless and include both funny and serious choices. In addition to the photos, all participants get a free HIV test at the event.

Check out a collection of photos below taken for the campaign over the last eight months, which feature some very well-known drag queens and transgender women, including RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 winner Bianca Del Rio.
