Journo Jody Horowitz ain’t down with Kylie Minogue:”The only thing sadder than watching the ageing and criminally self-obsessed Kylie Minogue these days, is witnessing the pathetic and undying reverence the gay community has extended to her for so many years, with so little reward back.”

Perhaps because we simply like her happy pop music and sparkly costumes. Some of us don’t need a celebrity to suck our dicks, you bitter queen…the fact that we find them entertaining is enough of a reason to like an entertainer. Geez, up your Geritol dosage.

Kylie loves her gays! And contrary to what the jaded author claims, she’s done tons of gay press. That said, her latest album “X” should have been titled “Z” as in “Zzzzzz.” What a snoozefest of reheated hits from the past 8 years. Still, much more energetic, fun and accessible than out singers Rufus and kd. Hey, they’re all great.

Gays started out loving Kylie for the handbag pop music, glitz and Vegas like Glam… their love grew even deeper with her cancer. We love a drama especially when it comes in the guise of a showgirl!

Is this Jody a lesbo lesbotron? Because that would explain A LOT!!
I looooooove Kylie and Kylie loves me for loving her and we looooove each other!!

I really don’t think that this Jody Horowitz really knows what she is talking about. Kylie has always been very supportive of the gay community. She has performed at the Australian gay pride a few times, She has always shown her love & support for her gay fans. Her concerts are jammed packed with glitter, musical numbers, designer costumes, half naked hot men…. what else can a gay boy want? Her best friend/creative director is a gay man. She is not a tragic mess like most young pop stars are today. Other than madonna, I don’t know of any other big female popstars who have lasted as long, and actualy have the talent to prove it. I love kylie. Her music is fun, cheerful, pop music that puts me in a good happy mood. Jody should focus her bitterness on more serious topics other than “what has kylie done for your gay ass lately”.

While I enjoy her music, I am not a big fan. However, I use to live in Sydney years ago and I can tell you that Kylie and her sister Dani were very supportive of the gay community while the country was being hit hard with AIDS. That was in the 80’s. She was sort of their Elizabeth Taylor.

Kylie Minogue started out as a “laughing stock” by the Australian media when she first left the Aussie soaps and pursued an awkward bubblegum pop career. She left Australia for the UK (with gay beau Jason Donovan in tow) and reinvited herself into a Pop Princess and was accepted and embraced by gays and eventually and still to this day became the Aussie Madonna. She is the only “Gay Icon” left in the mold of Judy Garland, Dusty Springfield and Diana Ross (read your Gay History) who have never back-stabbed the gay community like Donna Summer’s born-again-ness, Gloria Gaynor’s I-never-meant-this-song-for-gays, Madonna’s sleight of hand on Gay Marriage, Grace Jones’ gay brother’s Ex-Gay ministry and her silence, Patti Labelle’s embrace of homophobic Mary Mary and the list goes on where Gays separate the music from the Diva just to get through another day of this barrage of attacks, even from our own like Ms Horowitz who’s deeply internalized homophobia lashes at those who cast light for one small moment in these Dark Ages for Gays. When we lift up a gay-accepting celebrity when most of the Americans have knocked us to the ground, some homocon comes out of a rat hole like a media snarky game of hungry-hungry hippo. The blood of suicidal teenagers is on your hands Jodi and you wanted a kidney from a girl named “Kylie.” You obviously hate Gay Men but not as much as you hate yourself and now we hate you, too.

Has anybody considered that this Jody may actually be a man with a unisex name? a la Dana, Courtney, Lindsay
I figure Jody was speaking from a gay man’s perspective when he typed out this sentence: “Isn’t it a bit like having sex with a straight man and making believe he really loves us, and not his wife?”…it is, at the very least, the slightest hint of a man speaking.
Such lesbo-phobia fellas…
That being said, the article lacks any substantial evidence as to why gay men shouldn’t be fans of Kylie Minogue. Weak argument, if any. In my opinion, Jody is unsubstantiatedly hating on Kylie. Lazy journalist, lazy polemic.
