Honest Confessions From Drag Queens

screen-shot-2016-11-04-at-2-29-49-pm We all engage in drag every time we get dressed to leave the house. Whether you want to admit it or not, the way we visually present our identities to the world around us is an intentional process. Even if you’re the person who lazily grabs sweat pants and whatever shirt is at the top of your dresser, it’s a choice. Or as Tatiana would say, “CHOICES.”

And speaking of Tati, only very few of us have the creativity, inclination and courage to be a drag queen. While the world of drag has reached the mainstream through RuPaul’s Drag Race and in ever more popular gay bars across the world, here’s a taste of what some queens are secretly thinking behind all that makeup.

Yes, it’s a Whisper post. Deal with it.

I'm a drag queen, how come no guys believe me when I say I'm a top?

I have more designer gowns and shoes being a drag queen than most my female friends... I don't feel guilty!

Being a drag queen is hard. No one wants to date you, they just want sex for an experience.

I'm a Drag Queen, HUNTY. Don't play with me. It's not my fault you don't have a single ounce of humor in your body, and you can't take a damn joke from time to time.

I wish guys didn't think drag was unattractive. Being a drag queen is fun, and a hobby, and I think I'm quite pretty!

I hate it when someone assumes that I have certain personality traits just because I'm a Drag Queen

Being a drag queen and watching some girls try walk in heels is hilarious! I mean I'm a six foot guy and can still manage!

I love being a drag queen all the attention comes to you

Even as hard as it is being a drag queen, I look fabulous in that makeup.

I'm a drag queen. And my secret? When a guy mistakes me for an actual woman, I go with it just to see how far I can actually get.

It is very difficult trying to date while being a drag queen.. Its like i have to be a super hero

As a drag queen, almost everything is fake... The hair, boobs, lashes.... But not my louboutins!!

I'm always the quiet shy gay kid in the corner. I love to see the looks on people's faces when I tell them I'm a drag queen.

I'm a drag queen. And love that none of my friends or family know :) especially when I see my friends in public and they don't recognize me lol.

I love doing Drag. Thats when I'm really me.
