I think today we are supposed to find out who won Playstation’s The Tester contest? It’s where video game fanatics compete to become the next game tester for the Sony console, a gig that probably involves sitting at home in front of a screen than the job I have. Well of course we’re supposed to be cheering for Matthew Brown, the 2010 Mr. Gay San Diego who uses the handle “Gaymer.” He camped out for three days to get his hands on the Playstation 3, a feat that does not, in fact, give you a leg up in Sony’s contest. Matthew made it to the final four, and today we’re supposed to get Episode 8 of The Tester web series, where they announce the winner. Where is it!

NB: Of course Matthew’s favorite video game character is this hottie, Nathan Drake from Uncharted.

What a gayme face…………… :p
Matt
I must say it’s awesome to have the community rooting for me!! THANKS EVERYONE! đ We all know there’s tons of homophobia in online gaming so here’s to making a difference! I promise, win or lose, the finale has a really great message for LGBT acceptance…can’t wait for you all to see it!

Metal Gear Solid IV? Matthew says: “Art!” “It’s so three dimensional!”
Really? A game with about three hours of actual gameplay–that barely changed from previous installments–coupled with more than a dozen hours of cutscenes centering around fan service almost-naked women bosses and silly, over-the-top fighting on the level of a bad mecha anime mixed with a Michael Bay movie is the “best game of all time”?
Dear god, I hate reality TV and the vapid people that star in it.
PerplexedStudent
really.. three was good, with a complex and emotional story. four was bad.. just bad. like you said, fan service and explosions.. the transformers 2 of the game world. bad bad taste

@Sadbuttrue: You don’t see many trees from the forrest do ya? :p
The whole reason for this thread is to show that an opely Gay dude can actually be accepted into what can hardly be considered a Gay friendley arena. For the millions to see Matthew make it so far in the competition shows the straight teens that Gays aren’t such freaks afer all and shows Gay teens that they don’t have to hide and freak out about being Gay……….
Matt
@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS:
I’m glad you see the big picture đ I feel very proud to break into this industry.
Btw, for people with PlayStation 3s, the season finale is live and available to download on the video side of the PlayStation Store. You can also watch episodes 1-4 on http://www.thetester.com
not sure when they’ll add the rest, but I know 5-6 are on http://www.crackle.com
Red Meat
I’m from the Play Station generation, so Sony fan for life đ
Good luck Matt.
Marcus M.
Whoa, haven’t played games since the PS2 days but that Uncharted hero might make me invest in a new system.
Go Matt!

I’m not really the type of person who will support someone just because he’s gay. But I’ve seen all of the episodes of The Tester this season, and I found Gamer to be a class act. I would be happy to see either him or Scooter win this season.
Drilb
@Matt: It was an awesome episode! You made the tester worth watching! (:
Daez
Honestly, I hope that like most kids that were once fat that grew up to be hot adults this dude doesn’t turn into a shallow self obsessed prick (see Kenny from RW and RR).
However, listening to him talk all I can think is shut your mouth and take your clothes off. Which is most likely why he won a beauty pageant (must like Sarah Palin).
Also, that gaming character looks like a certain hot gay porn star.

@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: Not really. What it shows them is that if they are willing to kick ass and take names they can succeed regardless of who they are.
Winning this competition doesn’t suddenly mean he is accepted into the gaming world. It just means that he won the competition.

Also, actually it shows gay teens that they should be willing to do anything to succeed (camping out for three days for something you want is definitely “working” hard to succeed) including keeping their mouth shut about who they really are if it helps them get ahead.

Really? You think that’s a good lesson for kids? Shut up and roll over to make money? ‘Tis the american way I guess…
Also, good for you matt. Not a sony fan (I’m still waiting for nintendo to get good again) but good luck! đ

good luck to Matt. He’s pretty cute, too. But, I’m wishing he’ll succeed because it’s his passion and it’s what he wants. And being an open gay dude, well, that’s cool too.
