1) Drug use will remain prohibited.
2) The military will be able to police sexual activity while on duty and in the barracks.
3) If he thinks “young homosexual men” are the only ones mixing drug use and unsafe sexual practices, I have some old friends from high school and college (and hell, law school for that matter) to introduce him to.

I remember reading in a straight publication that the phrase in the Army used to be “It’s not who you know, it’s who you blow that counts.” The military (especially Navy!) has always been a hotbed of gayness. I’ve had sex on an Air Force base…. the one I was born on in fact! This was in the middle of the 90’s when we had these things called condoms. I wasn’t in the service but what fun service men are! On another note… Are they worried about women getting STDs or even pregnant? They have women in the service and the world didn’t end! HIV isn’t a bar to continued military service now, though STD’s have always been a problematic presence in uniformed military service through the ages. And, same-gender sexual relations have always occurred among military personnel – recognizing of course, that gays have always been prominent military warriors.
Read up on the Sacred Band of Thebes before casting aspersions on gays in the military. Gay soldiers are presently discriminated against by ignorant hetero supervisors.

Clark AFB in the Phillipines had twice weekly “Clap Call” at the base hospital. Anyone who had symptoms of VD would line up and take their turn to be seen.
Lines would sometimes stretch for blocks, all from heterosexuals spending time with Phillipino hookers. The American military (and taxpayers) adapted to that ongoing problem, and will adapt to any future problems.
These Pharasees are dreaming if they think the only people with medical problems will be gays.
