That bathtime really paid off.
After teasing a collaboration on social media, MNEK and Olly Alexander from Years & Years just released their anti-Valentine’s Day jam, “Valentino.”
“Uzo (MNEK) and I were inspired to write a song about the many fuck boys who have done us dirty,” Olly told i-D. “I’m lucky to have a friend like Uzo — somebody I talk to when I’m upset about a boy — and working together was basically an extension of us hanging out. I hope the lyrics connect with people regardless of their sexuality — we all know a Valentino!”

“Olly texted me a few days ago saying that we need to put Valentino out on Valentine’s Day,” said MNEK. “So of course I said, let’s go!”
“I am so proud of this song for how unashamedly gay it is,” Olly adds. “Two men singing about a boy is still disappointingly uncommon so it makes me very happy to be putting this song out.”

Ok. Ok. I get it. Its their publicity agent shopping them around to gay websites in order to get them some name recognition. Two articles within two days on Queerty with over half of the comments asking who are they prove how desperate they are for recognition because they clearly don’t have a large promotion budget.

Hahaha – name recognition. Olly / Years and Years are brilliant. Maybe not in the US but who really cares about that anymore.

Those are mostly Americans that are oblivious to anything from outside the USA.
