More Rumors Surface About Queen Latifah Coming Out At Long Beach Pride

Ever since Queen Latifah accepted an offer to perform at Long Beach Pride on May 19, rumors have been bubbling up that she was coming out. Some believed performing at an LGBT event was in itself a nod to queer fans, while others are saying she’ll be making a big announcement soon.

Now the site TruthQuake is claiming the singer-actress-spokesmodel “is going to announce publicly that she is lesbian” from the stage.

“Queen Latifah wants to come out at Pride because it’s a place where people will appreciate her showing her support of the LGBT community,” said the insider source close to the actress/rapper/singer.

“She has a lot of gay and bi fans. They know she’s lesbian, and they love that she’s so successful, but they’ll be thrilled when she finally ‘comes out’ publicly”

“People in the LGBT community don’t want to push her because they know it’s not easy facing other people who you think may judge you badly, and if you’re famous there are even more people to judge. But, they’ll be thrilled to know she’s finally announcing it.”

In 2008, La told The New York Times “I don’t feel like I need to share my personal life, and I don’t care if people think I’m gay or not.” She’s long been linked to fitness trainer Jeanette Jenkins.

I hope that she feels comfortable enough to do it. I’m sure it would be appreciated by the audience.

If true, then good for her!

I figured that out years ago; that she was a lebisan. You rarely see her in public with any men.

This is as surprising as Clay Aiken coming out.

    • I won't grow up

Regarding Ms Latifa didn’t she do this before?
Ms Terri…what the hell is a lebisan, does that mean she’s from Lebanon?
Does this mean that Clay does it with cats?

I don’t understand why celebs like her don’t just do it already. EVERYBODY knows, including their families, so just say it in support of other gay men and women out there. With some celebs it’s a guessing game, but with ones like Queen Latifah it’s so obvious (there’s even photographic evidence) that it’s just a joke already.

I say ditto about her that I said about Anderson Cooper. OVER it, with the excuses. Granted, she’s got it a bit tougher being black and formerly involved with rap but that’s way behind her now. And it may be tricky since she’s involved in all these mainstream activities now. Cover Girl, Pizza Hut, Jenny Craig etc. oh well. Suck it up.

LOL at this quote in an interview she did last year:

“She’s not too impressed with today’s rap scene.”

“Hopefully it will get back to where it was and more people will come out.

We can’t just have one rapper (female). And to tell to you just how terrible the industry has gotten in that sense by not supporting and making sure that our voices are heard. It just became so male dominated. How much money can you throw at a strip club? How much weed can you smoke? How many girls can you have sex with? Can we have a new record? Can you make this interesting? The reason I think it started becoming like that is because there were no women’s voices out there giving you a different take on life. To me, hip hop will never be right until female rappers have a stronger voice in it.”

OH more people will come out in RAP you mean? eyeroll.

I am sick of her already. She’s not particularly talented and has appeared to trade on speculation about her sexuality in order to keep her name in lights. Go away, Queen Latifah.

Don’t treat us like a monolith.

Hollywood closet cases send the worst message to the masses; “no, it is not ok to be like this”.

I hope she does come out and puts this behind her. She’ll inspire a lot of black gays. Although, it’s already clear she’s lesbian.

      @Lance @Rockery @ScaryRussianHeather: Agree, agree, agree.
No (sigh), she doesn’t have to. And yes, she should. She really should. And so should Tyler. And Russell. And…
