Former NBA player and current awesome dad Dwayne Wade has fired back at some Twitter trolls whose delicate sensibilities were apparently shaken by a 12-year-old’s fingernails.
Wade’s son Zion rocked some white acrylics in a Thanksgiving family photo:

That was all it took for some commenters to get worked up, and Wade responded that he supports all his family members with “pride, love & a smile.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
I’ve seen some post-thanksgiving hate on social about my family photo. Stupidity is apart of this world we live in—so i get it. But here’s the thing—I’ve been chosen to lead my family not y’all. So we will continue to be us and support each other with pride, love & a smile! ??

The photo also received plenty of praise, some of which Wade retweeted in support.
One Twitter user wrote:
“Shout out D. Wade for setting the example of a Black father loving and accepting their children as they are. There’d be a lot less trauma in our community if more Black dads were like this.”

“As a parent,” he wrote in another response, “my only goal is that my kids feel that i see them, love them and support them.”

In April, Wade voiced public support of his son attending Miami Pride, sharing a photo of him with step-mom Gabrielle Union with the message, “We support each other with Pride!”:
“I’m very uneasy about accolades that come from supporting my kids or the negativity that comes from it,” he later said. “I’m doing what every parent has to do. Once you bring kids into this world, you become unselfish.”
“It’s my job to be their role model, to be their voice in my kids’ lives, to let them know you can conquer the world. So, go and be your amazing self and we’re going to sit back and just love you.”

It must be awesome having progressive parents. I hope his son realizes how lucky he is to be in such a supporting environment.

Wade and Union should be parents of the year.

Beautiful response from Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union. That child is very lucky to have them as parents. I wish all children had parents who were as loving and open.

Union sounds like a real nightmare to work with! It’s common knowledge in the industry what a b*tch she is!

And of course here you lurk with some negative statement, as usual about someone Black or non-white. Donald Drumpf, girl, is that you? Get yourself some help and pronto. You couldn’t wear Gabrielle Union’s maxipad even if you tried your hardest!
