ROYAL MAJESTY

Queen Elizabeth II Says Gay Marriage Is Absolutely “Wonderful”

QueenElizabethRainbowSparklesJust when we didn’t think she could get any more amazing, Queen Elizabeth II called gay marriage in England “wonderful.”

Or at least according to comedian/newlywed Stephen Fry.

During an interview over the weekend, Fry explained how the 88-year-old monarch expressed her approval of gay marriage in July 2013 when signing the Marriage Act, which granted same-sex couples the right to legally marry in England.

“It was only last summer that Her Majesty The Queen gave the Royal Assent,” he told The Jonathan Ross Show.

The Queen must remain politically neutral and has never spoken publicly about gay marriage, but according to sources who Fry describes as “well-founded,” her royal majesty is all for marriage equality.

“When the Queen signed the Royal Assent for the equal marriages act, allowing gay people to marry for the first time, she put it down and said ‘Well, who’d have thought 62 years ago when I came to the throne, I’d be signing something like this? Isn’t it wonderful?’”

Wonderful, indeed!

I so don’t believe Her Majesty said such a thing.
If she did, it was pure sarcasm.

I believe in it. She has a bisexual son afterall.

@ouragannyc: The Queen Mum was very Gay friendly, most of her staff and many of her friends were Gay. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if some of that rubbed off on her daughter. Besides haven’t the upper classes, at least in England, usually been tolerant of LGBT people?

Looking more and more like Scott Thompson as the years go by.

That’s a look-a-like, not a photo of the real queen.

…it may even be a wax figure?

Maybe she’s getting the country ready for when Charles unloads that lumbering beard Camilla and finally marries that cute stable boy he’s had his eye on all these years. Now that would be wonderful.

Had she done it sooner, her son Edward might have had a much happier life. Instead, he was forced to marry a Diana lookalike to keep the tabs off his ass. She probably feels very badly for him.

Well she’s a Queen what do you expect????

    @MarcoRabbito:

The Queen and her late mother are famous fag hags. The Queen Mother was best buddies with Noel Coward and the Queen’s Uncle was a famous bisexual. The Queen’s staff is famous for being mostly gay men.

    @ouragannyc:

    It’s definitely a wax work.

The whole idea of having a monarchy is so outdated. But if you’re stuck with one, better that it be LGBT inclusive!

hey queens, How can I fix up an image of myself with that fabulous background? Anyone know how to do that? I want to be ready when Scalia & Thomas have to eat it!!!

  • PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS

There is a whole lot more than one Queen prancing around that palace……. :p

    She’s the Queen of queens.

@AlliterationAddict: All the research shows that western constitutional monarchies are in fact the most politically stable, have the best social, ethnic and sexual equality as well as social justice and human rights. Strange that. Perhaps it’s something about stopping politicians have the self aggrandisement of being head of state.

There is a lot of talk about the USA and France being class free republics. All the research shows that both lag behind the western countries with monarchies in terms of social equality and social mobility. In fact, the USA lags behind most of the western world.

@AlliterationAddict: There’s no justification for a hereditary monarchy, until someone utters the words… “President Blair”. ;)

People from the UK have always been open-minded about same sex unions. For crying out loud, a CONSERVATIVE prime minister advocated for the legalization of same sex marriage. When same sex marriage became legal in the UK, the whole world didn’t even notice it because there were no rallies, protests and dissent. Unlike in France where the narrow-minded imbecile minority are wreaking havoc or in the US where clerks are refusing to provide licenses.

  • stephintheusa

@IvanPH: Couldn’t have said it better myself. As someone who grew up in England, I am very proud of how progressive we are as a nation. Now it’s time for the USA to catch up.

    God save the Queen!

It takes a queen to recognise another….

  • charlie_jackpot

@IvanPH: Purely as a vote winner and to show they had ‘changed’ to the casual voter. A large chunk of the party hated the idea but knew they had to vote to stay in power

I just love Elizaabeth H (How the Queen signs cards, letters and flowerrs). You rock Queen Elizabeth. Hopefully the land of the free can take a lesson from our former mother country.

  • BurleighBro

She’s just paving the way for Prince Harry to marry his own knight in shining armor. God Save the Queen !!

  • cymro

This act also made gay marriage law in Wales. Typical article that thinks England is the same as the UK.

  • cymro

England is not the UK. Gay marriage is also legal in Wales and Scotland. Another ignorant article!
