I would like to congratulate Pope Benedict on his wise decision to retire before the very worst of what has been going on is discovered. I appreciate his alluding to some of it in his statement and assure him The Most High forgives those who can faithfully say they did wrong.
The church had been brought into dreadful disrepute by lies and blasphemies against The Holy Spirit. Benedict’s greatest achievement is this act of retiring. There is a chance now for the church to be re-built and made fit to house The Holy Spirit.

Yes Pope Benedict, the man in charge of church doctrine (e.g., no condoms) during the early days of the AIDS crisis as well as the man in charge of protecting rapists priests.
Benedict is the anti-christ.

Her Irish accent played in my ear as I read this. Sinead, right on. …Love her…Always have, always will.

Amen, sister!
I hate that she received such condemnation when she tore John Paul 2’s picture in half. That guy was WAY OVERRATED by the mainstream media. He was just as complicit in the sex abuse scandal – as well as church homophobia – as Ratzinger was.

@Joetx: I hate to be seen defending catholicism but Ratzinger while in charge of the paedophile ring enacted things that have been proven to have been independent of JP2, Ratzinger was protecting paedophiles because he is one, he also enacted the rules in Ireland where catholic gangs were given names and addresses of families and embarked on campaigns of intimidation against those who were abused.
JP2 is complicit no question, but Ratzinger is one of the worst paedophiles and people who has ever lived.

As soon as they finish building his quarters, Ratzinger’s going to be cloistered away inside the Vatican where nobody can have contact with him. I wonder if there will be bars on the windows. It sounds as though what they found on him isn’t good.

Never really got Sinead O’conner but I have to say I agree with her completely..I shudder to think what is behind this papal resignation but as already said by others they will bury him deep in the vatican so no one will get near him..It’s such a shame the Vatican is a fabulous place, amazing building but filled with dreadful people.
