Two “straight roommates” are so overjoyed about Prop 8 being struck down, they want to turn it into a profitable opportunity. In exchange for a free trip to California (air fare, hotel, maybe a stipend), they’ll get married — and agree to have the whole thing filmed for some twisted reality show or something. “We really don’t think anyone will be down for this, bu we are totally serious about this, if someone is serious about paying for it. Like I stated before, we would film, and take pics of the entire adventure, for proof that we did it. Maybe even a filmmaker or TV network would be willing to back us.” Let me touch base with Howard Bragman and get back to you.

Oh okay yeah that’s cool make a mockery of gay marriage already.
Cam
I believe that non consumation of a marriage is still grounds for it to be declared annulled or invalid so they may want to rethink.
Also, how nice of them to already try to mock and make a joke about the situation.
Jeffree
Classic case of two drunk.guys sitting on the couch watching tv.
They’re at the point of wastedness where *EVERYTHING* is a *good* idea.
They see something about Prop 8 on the news.
Dude 1: Oh man, we should get married so we can be all like on a TV show [burps]
Dude 2: Brilliant, bro! Let’s get this idea out on facebook n’ twitter RIGHT NOW!
[types furiously]
Dude 1: We don’t have to kiss or nothing, right?
Dude 2: Depends on the cash. Any way just close your eyes and think of that girl at Hooooters. The JUGular one.
Dude 1: Wait, which one of us gets to be the “man”?
Dude 2: Only way to decide? COIN TOSS!
. . . .
[they pass out on the couch, spooning for comfort and awaiting calls from TV producers]

I find it pretty offensive that this story is even being published. Many of us are putting ourselves out there because we actually have a loving relationship and want to get married as an expression of this love, and these guys are just making a mockery of the whole institution of marriage. It just disgusts me to see this when I am being personally targeted and blamed for degrading the sanctity of marriage and family.

@Chris Moyer: They’re no worse (but no better) than the thousands of heterosexual marriages of convenience.

This has got to be the stupidest goddamned idea since the Pinto! Who the hell would pay for this prank, much less want to watch it?! But people seem to like those idiotic Housewives shows, which I think are horrific, so who knows? I’d rather watch 2 committed gays get married than some frat boys with nothing better to do with their time.
patrick
This makes absolutely no sense! WTF?
Kacey
I’d agree to film it if they agree to consummate the marriage on camera.

Even though this is as about as repectful to gay people as Greg Gutfield and Glenn Beck, let’s not forget that straight people routinely stagger in from a bar to hitch up for life in front of Elvis. So just a stupid moment for two stupid straight guys AGAIN!!!
ewe
BUT.. let’s call them on their bullshit and film the whole thing complements of some gay travel agency.

@Kacey: I’ll pay $4.99 for *that*. (But only if ‘download to own’.)

This is MiKE, I am the one that posted this on my blog. First of all, I’ve removed the post from my blog, due to the negative feedback I have received. Second, I in no way meant to hurt anyone’s feelings, nor did I attempt to “mock” gay marriage. I am actually bi-sexual, and I really dig my roommate. Both of us were laid off our jobs, so we downsized, and bought and on old 70’s motor-home, packed up whatever would fit, and started living on the road. We may have started out being straight (or at least claiming to be) but we have since started to take a liking of each-other. Trying to make a living on the road is pretty difficult, but we try to make the best of it. This post was just an attempt to get away for awhile, as well as it was partly a joke. Not a mockery in anyway, at least not intentionally. I have since posted an apology about it on my blog. I really didn’t even think anyone would read the post, because I don’t really get many viewers to begin with.
I do want to apologize again to anyone that took offense to this post, we didn’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings, in any way.
