I feel we’re at this pivotal moment in the queer movement in terms of holding on to our rights, which are being chipped away at.
I can see how frustrated the older generation are because of what they’ve fought for. And it’s slowly being clawed back. We can’t become complacent and we need to make many alliances. People need to come together as one. There is power in numbers.
If we don’t do something about it soon, something monumental will happen and we’ll be back at square one.— Tom Daley speaking to The Guardian about the urgency of the issues facing the LGBTQ community.

Everyone should be working to codify same sex marriage. NOW
Write letters, demonstrate. VOTE

@CatholicXXX
History books will praise Trump? Maybe in Russia.
dbmcvey
Catholicxxx,
I truly doubt it. Trump is, and will go down in history as one of the worst Presdients.
dbmcvey
Jim, absolutely!
Cam
They’ll try to divide groups, do whatever they can to attack our rights. Vote like our civil rights depend on it, because they do.

By “older generation,” I assume he meant his husband.

I am a boomer. Back in the day I did my best to know gay history. I still do. It still annoys me that these kids think they invented being gay. There used to be no porn, no internet. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. I have had several close friends that were brutally murdered for being gay.
Mack
I’m right there with you. From what I see many of those today take what they have for granted. We couldn’t come out at school or go to the prom with our other half. We had to watch and make sure we wasn’t arrested just in a bar because of the “undercover cops”. But the fight has to continue or you will find yourself way back in the closets.

Matthew Shepard? Is he on TikTok? How many followers?

I said this when gay marriage was made law in 2009. This is not the end of the fight but the beginning. We hvae to fight to retain these ritghts. When the Baby Boomers were born and are now retiring they were essentially given everything by the government and then some. Now that they are no longers filling the work force with some of the best labor available those benefits are being pulled back. If we want to retain Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid which are the big three we’d better be loud about it because the privitization of Medicare through private insurers is beneficial right now because the government wants to destroy Original Medicare they are over-subsidizing Medicare Advantage and under subsidizing Original Medicare. And once they have the majority of people choosing Medicare Advantage for the benefits they gain they will close Original Medicare and cut the subsidies to the Advantage plans leaving us with even crappier health care.

The only reason gay rights are at risk is because there are no gay rights organizations.
Everything is LGBTIAQ+ (or in Canada, 2SLGBTQIA+) and their top priority isn’t anybody’s rights but “Breaking the Binary.”
Gay rights succeeded by fighting lies with truth.
The Queer movement does the opposite.
LumpyPillows
They are sabotaging us.

How so?

When I was marching with Queer Nation at the capitol, he was filling diapers in a stroller.
Joshooeerr
And your point is?
PQ
Yep, and it seems like he’s grateful to you for that and wants to honor your legacy by continuing the fight.
dbmcvey
Why are you mad? He’s saying young people should be aware of our history. You don’t need to have this knee-jerk negative reaction to young people.

“butchqueen”
How about “b*tchqueen”?
The guy is trying to help and you make some obnoxious remark about him. Give it a rest.
