Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, the first gay couple to both be listed as parents on their children’s birth certificates, were rescued from their car on Saturday night after it had become stranded in a flooded road.
Barie, 43, and Tony, 48, who have had five children by a surrogatcy, were wearing tuxes when a fire crew passing by saw their Range Rover, which had become stuck in about five feet of water.
It took 15 emergency workers nearly an hour to rescue the couple as a police helicopter shined its searchlights on the rescue boat.

Given the CURRENT CLIMATE of hate and intolerance in the U.S. We probably would have been left for dead.

@Dumdum: Our right wing cesspit newspapers [Daily Mail and Telegraph] inferred that the children would be better off drowning then having gay parents.
There’s also an Anti-Gay Marriage congregation during the Conservative party conference led by the former archbishop of Canterbury and some of the more extreme Conservatives. Although to be fair the Prime Minister has distanced himself from them completely [in public at least] and derided them a few times.
The average age is high though, so hopefully a few of them will die soon.
