Before you all get too excited with rage – some close friends (ok fag hags) were pulling for Kris because he was cute and according to them he didn’t “scream” like Adam. Also, another friend (and same-sex marriage supporter) told me they were for Kris because they could see buying his first album, but not Adam’s. The general concensus has been that people liked Kris’s style – not they didn’t like Adam, but his style doesn’t appeal to the masses.
I’m not saying the fundie vote was strong, but if Adam’s sexuality was not an issue (which I know it was), I think Kris still would have won.
I know a ton of homos who voted for Kris. He didn’t lose because he is gay. I don’t believe for a second that his sexuality had anything to do with it.
There’s also the Southern factor. Southerners have won AI more than any other region. I think Southerners have nothing else to do but vote on AI.
Adam is very polarizing. Kris has a broader, mainstream appeal.
If DialIdol.com is to be believed, Adam lost by less than 1% of the vote.
I don’t watch this show … In fact I’ve hated it since it started and I just want it to go away forever and ever!! … We all knew this Lambert kid wasn’t going to win, it’s the same bait and switch they always use.
With O’Reilly and other talking heads turning AI into a referendum on gay rights and every magazine under the sun running a “is he or isn’t he” cover story, we shouldn’t be surprised that the Kris fans came out in droves.
Kris seems like a nice guy, and I’m sure he’ll have a long career in Branson, MO. And on the up-side, Adam won’t ever have to sing Kara’s crappy song ever again.
Kris won and I am happy for him. He needs the break. Adam on the other hand just launched a career. With his vocal ranges and variety of singing styles on tap he will go far. Had he toned down his look, he might have won. Sadly, in the end, all the little girls vote for the guy they can land not the guy they can be a hag too.
I never watched the show before tonight. Adam’s singing blew me away. Especially his performance with KISS. Kris is good. If he plays his cards right and markets himself well, he might get two albums out of this. If he decides to come out…well I’d be happy to be his!
Glad it is over. Now we can focus on what matters…SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE!!!
i got into the habit of watching this crappy show years ago and can’t seem to break out of it, even though i haven’t legitimately enjoyed a performance since melinda doolittle two years ago. i would never buy either adam’s or kris’s album, but that said:
1) adam was clearly the better singer of the two, but sometimes he was so over-the-top that it was impossible to like him, in my opinion. see his performance of “one” by u2. just awful.
2) kris is 1000x cuter than adam and has a much broader audience base.
so i’m not really surprised. i hope that adam’s sexuality didn’t have anything to do with it, but i’m sure for some people it did. the way the voting is done on AI is such utter bullshit that you can’t really take the results seriously; this isn’t the first time the better singer/performer has lost. ah well. i really thought out of all this year’s mediocrity would emerge an openly gay idol, but i still think adam will be more successful than kris.
Srsly?! I thought Adam Lambert was a beautiful man… Maybe that’s just because I’m a lesbian.
Also, when he did go over the top, I thought it was in a good way. A theatrical way. He’s got so much charisma. Kris is a nice guy, but I got the impression that he’s not very talented. And he’s just… super boring.
Adam was great, but he didn’t lose because he is gay.
I am kind of tired of all of the drama around. He’s a rocker and Kris has more of a broader musical appeal. Plus he is cute and I’m sure he appealed to millions of girls. But that doesn’t mean that Adam was NOT chosen because he is gay. Everyone needs to chill out. This is ridiculous.
The bigger question is: should Adam Lambert really is a rallying cry for the community? Despite the obvious, he stuck with ambiguous instead of openly out. However, how much of that was strategy, marketing, contracts, or Fox editing. Needless to say, it now shows that America loves to vote for the gay guy – as long as he doesn’t end up on top.
Maybe this is why they were setting up barricades throughout the Castro?
Well, on to the anniversary of the White Noise Riots and Harvey Milk’s birthday…….
I have my fingers crossed that Adam will turn himself in to a bigger figure. Coming out and making statement. All the spotlights are on him right now.
Would you please quit using the word “lose”. Apparantly you haven’t been keeping up with this competition. Coming in second in Idol is hardly losing and in many instances success after the show was much greater to the runner up.
I think this had less to do with Adam being gay than his gender bending ways. People are way less comfortable with that. I love it and his over the topness. I think he had sass, class, and balls of steel all in a beautifully styled package, but that is way too much for a lot of people.
Before everyone breaks out the pitchforks and torches and heads for Arkansas, Let’s think about this for a second…
Kris won:
-He gets the $1,000,000 record deal.
-He gets to be announced as “American Idol winner Kris Allen.”
-He gets to sing a few extra songs on the tour.
-He gets to come back twice next season.
-He gets his picture on the big wall behind the auditioners next season.
-I have a feeling he’ll benefit more from the AI contract that Adam would have.
Adam lost:
-He’s going to get a record deal. It’s inevitable.
-He never has to sing ‘No Boundaries’ again. And, he gets to keep his dignity by not being forced to include that cheesy mess on his debut album.
-He’s already the biggest star to come out of this season. One of the biggest the show has produced.
-He got to perform with KISS.
-He gets all the publicity of making it to the finale. Plus, he’ll most likely receive a boatload of extra publicity from the media when they try and frame this as a “AMERICA HATES GAY PEOPLE! DID HE LOOSE CUZ HE LIEKS MEN?!” story. Like the Miss California story in reverse. Riddle me this: who WON Miss USA? Exactly.
All Adam really lost was a title. Big deal. They’re both winners in one way or another. Adam deserved to win, sure. But so did Kris(He was my 2nd favorite all season long). They’re both great, and this is the first time I’ve gone into an AI finale happy with either result.
The only real loser here is American Idol, since this could potentially be what pushes Simon over the edge and causes him to walk away from the show to focus on Britain’s Got Talent or importing X-Factor to America. And without Simon, well, it’s not hard to imagine what would happen to the show without Simon.
Okay, in Salt Lake City, Utah (reddest state in the nation), the local FOX affiliate reported that people voting on their online poll wanted Adam to win by 67%. The Mormons don’t seem to mind that Adam is gay.
I really don’t think there’s any homophobia involved. It is exactly what happened last year. David A. was anointed by the judges weeks in advance. Therefore, David C. people voted their buts off and he won.
I called it last week when Simon basically said Adam would win. Personally, I don’t like the guy, and found him shrill and irritating. Once Allison was voted off (a true injustice), I didn’t really care about the outcome.
BTW, maybe some people think Adam is a “rocker”. He’s not. Allison was a rocker. Adam was a theater queen, who liked lame ass hair-metal.
Adam was awesome and deserved to win, but honestly aside from the fact that a gay AI winner would set a precedent, he is SO much better off not winning, not being chained to the Idol shit-music machine and forced to tone himself down and kowtow to all the idiots who produce this crapfest. He can do whatever he wants now– people know his name and he is going to have his pick of projects, mainstream or not. I am completely convinced that Kris Allen is going to fall by the wayside like Taylor Hicks (whom I really liked, by the way) and Adam is going to be like Kelly Clarkson in that you almost forget she had anything to do with American Idol and just know them as a talented entertainer in their own right. Honestly, I think Adam would have been extremely successful with or without AI, but thank God he had this show as his springboard– he is too much fun to watch and listen to. You’re one sexy bitch Adam Lambert!
@Kevin: Didn’t Simon go all gaga over someone else from one of the previous seasons that didn’t even make it to the top two, as well?
I’ve seen maybe three episodes of this show since it started, all the result of an ex’s interest. Even *if* Mr. Lambert lost because he was gay (and I don’t think that’s a well-founded inference), who in the hell cares? He almost certainly has a record deal and the winners don’t have the best track record (so much for the tastes of the voters when it comes to actual sales).
On the other hand, I just listened to his “Mad World” performance and it was pretty damn good. So best of luck to him on his future endeavors.
As for the evangelical winner….ugh, no thanks. I’m sure he’s talented and everything but it is fairly hard for me to overlook his membership in a church of that….caliber. Particularly if it is, indeed, a Pentecostal church. We should all recognize epilepsy for what it is: a neurological disorder.
@cha cha: Actually, Adam will still be chained to “this crapfest.” American Idol’s 19 Entertainment has first rights to any recording contract for the losers. They’ll give him a contract as well as Kris… just like when 19 Entertainment gave both Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee recording contracts, even though she lost AI.
Hey Bitch Republic, I too know lots of homos who voted for Kris…and it’s because Adam IS gay! Oh, they’d never admit it (actually I got two to admit it tonight). But they couldn’t put their straight-fetish aside for a f*cking night and vote for one of our own. So we can all stop blaming the fundies and point our fingers at ourselves. I could just cry.
PS. I’m glad no one seems to be bashing Kris in our grief. For a little Praise-n-Worship leader from Arkansas to have bonded with a glamazon like Adam shows some serious character. More than that homophobe Gokey.
i wonder if someone like elton john (a really talented artist)entered this contest do you think he would win if he competed against an “all american god fearing artist”?just wondering…………..
i think this contest is just what it is and if adam(or anyone) is really talented id hope no one would be able to deny him (or anyone)a long career.elton did it(a bit of the climb deep in the closet),the good shit always rises(sometimes lol)
This is one reason why the gay community, if you can call it a community, never gets anywhere. The Christian fundies were able to have solidarity in their ranks and make SURE that the gay guy didn’t win whereas otherwise most would not have even watched the show. They DID NOT vote for Kris because they thought he had the most talent, they voted for him to make sure Adam didn’t win. The gay community can’t even get off their f***ing asses and call in en mass like the fundies did, if they had Adam would have won. Sure its just another stupid talent show but if Adam had won it would have shown solidarity within the gay community and would have also shown america we are a force to be reckoned with and that we do have power. It could also have shown the politicians that finally Mainstream America didn’t care about a persons sexuality and maybe would have caused them to re-think their views about pandering to those christian bigots. But NO, even some gays here didn’t even show their support last night, its pathetic when gay people can’t even come together to support one of their own in a talent show. How in the world do we think we can ever make any progress in the political arena if we can’t even unite in something as simple as this.
Anti-gay bigotry is a manifestation of haterosexuality. Haterosexuality is the foundation of all institutional forms of discrimination.
Kris would have never won if his competition was haterosexual, we all know it. Kris forgot the lyrics to “No Boundaries” and was off key, two things that spelled doom to past contestants. This will be like the Ruben Studdard/ Clay Aiken showdown in which many people voted AGAINST Clay because they thought he was gay (he later acknowledge he is) and had no plans on buying anything Ruben made.
It could also have shown the politicians that finally Mainstream America didn’t care about a persons sexuality and maybe would have caused them to re-think their views about pandering to those christian bigots.
That’s what Ellen is for, and Rosie. If they can’t do it, there’s no way in hell Lambert was going to.
Moreover, there are plenty of evangelicals who think Kris Allen has a one way ticket to eternal damnation for even contemplating an appearance on American Idol (why, the name alone!). The ones who voted him in didn’t have a real problem with gays; their parents are the ones who need convincing.
@Chris: You’re a retard. I don’t believe people voted for Kris to make sure Adam didn’t win.
I voted for Kris because I preferred his folksy-pop style of music. I actually liked Adam’s over-the-top theatrics and at times he was quite good, but most of the time he sang too much like Axl Rose and I hate hair-metal music.
@Stenar: All I’ve listened to is Mad World. One of my favorite songs from my birth year, and he was quite good. But you’re right about one thing: Chris is apparently on an acid trip.
@Alec: I didn’t say Adam would have changed the views of MSM or MSA or Politicians, I said that if the gay community had come together in solidarity then THAT would have shown them we are a power. Maybe this wasn’t a political arena, but the fundies sure turned it into one. And if you don’t think that the ADULTS of those conservative families didn’t call in en mass then where have you been lately with all the media focusing on Adams sexuality. And where did you hear that Christians don’t watch AI because of the name of the show?????????, I certainly have never heard that come out of anyones mouth on TV
I don’t vote for people because it is what I like. I vote because I think the person has more talent. I can appreciate art that is amazing that may not be what I would listen to or look at on a daily basis. NO matter what someone likes I can’t believe anyone actually thought Kris had more talent than Adam.
@Stenar: Just because you preferred Kris and voted for him because you liked him doesn’t mean everyone did. Obviously Kris had fans, he would never have made it through to the final two otherwise, especially against Gokey. Kris was my second favorite, I have no problem at all with him, and I will probably buy his album. But face the facts, there was an organized religious vote for Kris in order to stop Adam winning. Gokey’s pastor even tweeted about it recently, instructing his flock to vote for Kris because a true believer needed to win – and, trust me, it wasn’t because Adam’s half Jewish, no such campaign existed to vote out Elliott Yamin a couple of years ago.
@Chris: Evangies/evangelicals are really fundamentalists who dress up in mega church garb. A huge percentage of them would recoil from AI (and not merely based on the title, which was my own lame attempt at humor).
Really, though, I think this was inconsequential. It saddens me that you are more interested in gay men and lesbians taking to the streets over this rather than, say, an anti-gay initiative. An American Idol vote is simply irrelevant, in the grand scheme of things.
NO matter what someone likes I can’t believe anyone actually thought Kris had more talent than Adam.
I just listened to Kris Allen for the first time. Could not agree more. But I haven’t been following closely; maybe he had a spot of brilliance tonight.
Which brings me to another point: the formula for American Idol would work just as easily on youtube, and the talent pool would be larger. Someone should simply replace it.
This is American Idol. More likely than not we will not remember most of these people by next season. Of the people from American Idol, the most sucessful have been Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry and Clay Aiken (barely making the list). Some of those names won their seasons. Some did not. There is no way right now we will know who will have a career going forward. I will say this- each one that had a career after American Idol did so by branding themselves in the music and film industry rather than following the Idol-crap fest. What I mean – think about it. Carrie Underwood’s music is nothing like what you might find on American Idol. Neither is Kelly Clarkson’s music. Sure as hell not Daughtry. Jennifer Hudson is not eve known for music- she’s more of an actor at this point to me. That leaves poor Clay who is what exactly?
@Alec: I certainly NEVER called for ANYONE to take to the streets over this. And its obvious you are missing my entire point of view on this matter. I myself could care less about who won this stupid talent show. I NEVER watch it. I am only going by news reports I hear about how the christians are coming out in droves to cast their vote for KRIS against ADAM. If those reports are wrong then so be it, but if they are right then we as a gay community should also have come out in support of Adam who is one of our own for a political statement just like the fundies were trying to make, AND DID SO. I voted for Adam because I did like him, but even if I didn’t I would have voted for him to show my support for a fellow gay man trying to make it in a world of homophobes.
I love that there are SO MANY comments about this thing!!
We are so vitally INTERESTED!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ya know, I only watched a few clips–
and to tell the truth, I just didn’t really enjoy Adam’s style– even though it’s clear he’s great at being who and what he is. Yes, his range is fantastic…
But not my cup of tea— and that’s …. OK.
I wish them both well…
Doggone it, I wish them ALL well!
They all worked hard and went through the fire.
It’s certainly a wild and fun ride — for them and for anyone who wants to vicariously experience it through watching the journey.
(Note: I didn’t read all the comments, and don’t have time to, so I’m not sure if anyone has said this but I wanted to bring it up.)
I MUCH preferred Adam’s voice and style but I didn’t think he could possibly lose so I didn’t bother to vote. I wonder how many votes he lost that way?
Well, I for one am a liberal native New Yorker and was a HUGE Kris fan. Nothing against Adam, but he was just way too theatrical for me. I know people will make it all about how America hates gays to take away from Kris’s win, which is just sad. Kris has explicitly said he wanted nothing to do with the crazy fundies who vote on religion alone. In my opinion, his win was well-deserved.
I have nothing against Kris. He seems to be a nice guy and not a phobe. He has a sweet and pleasant voice and I am sure many people would enjoy listening to him. He is sort of soothing. That still does’t make him more talented or more of an “idol” than Adam. Part of me really does believe Adam will be better off, but he was robbed. Talent should not be judged by the tastes of the listener but rather on the skill of the performer. That man can belt out a song in any format and blow people away. He stood his ground with Kiss and Queen and pulled off doing Elvis and Zepelin in one song. That takes stones so big I can’t imagine it. That should have been acknowledge with a win. Adam singing at half voice could blow Kris’s voice off the stage. You could barely detect Kris when they were doing the duet. Again, I am not disparaging Kris. I even enjoy his music, but he cannot hold a stage with Adam.
@Rasa: I was NEVER VITALLY INTERESTED in AI, I just felt that we could have come together and supported a fellow gay american who was up against all the homophobia out there. For me it was whether America could finally put their homophobia aside and vote for someone who was Gay. They couldn’t and the “they” also included many gays as well. For some, it seems they voted for Kris because they liked the way he sang, and I respect that. I just would have been more pleased if the Gay Community could have united over something where the outcome could have had been far reaching. Many could not, or refused to see my point and It shows me that the Gay community will never unite as one against anything, even if it would benefit them in the long run. I certainly never had any intention of turning this into a gay rights issue, but the fundies sure did and they definitely showed their unity as one. They were all able to come together and voice their support for the Christian Agenda and it showed. They are organized and united and are able to influence the outcome of things far more effectively than the gays ever could. It was a missed opportunity we could have taken advantage of. Whereas most of us are not able to march for equal rights or involve in gay politics, this was an opportunity for all of us to stand up for a fellow gay American. Some don’t feel this was the correct Arena to do so and ordinarily I would agree with that. The Gay community didn’t make an issue out of Adam being Gay, the Christian fundies did and they collectively organized their support AGAINST Adam. We could have collectively shown our support FOR Adam, but we didn’t or couldn’t because of the varrying view points of so many Gay Americans.
Adam did not lose because he is gay. Kris is a very talented (and verrrry cute!) – he deserved to win. Both Adam and Kris will enjoy successful careers in the music industry… and Adam is probably better off because he doesn’t have to release that god awful kara dioguardi song as his first single!
I can’t believe even gays are saying that he was too “theatrical”. Aren’t Britney, Madonna, Prince, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc very theatrical in their performances and concerts?
Adam has amazing vocal range and a larger than life personality. I hope he can get broad mainstream support but I’d hope at least the gay community would support him.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Isn’t it rich. Adam’s album will sell more.
@NICHOLAS: He didn’t lose because he is gay huh? What about the media outlets reporting that the Christian zealots were organizing efforts to call in votes not really so much in support of Kris but AGAINST Adam. Think what you want, but I just don’t believe that the conservative vote for Kris didn’t count. It did and it showed. It WAS just a contest and should have remained such, it didn’t because of all the homophobic christians who couldn’t accept Adam and wanted to make sure he didn’t stand as what America wanted. If you don’t believe they had any influence then you must not be active in what is going on in politics. Right wing christian Rick Warren being appointed by Obama. He is exactly where those christian fundies are coming from. Its the Gay vote Adam missed out on because gays can’t organize themselves to unite against anything.
no offense to kris — but he was behind adam in votes for basically the whole season. that means a lot of people were voting *against* adam, and not for kris. understandable, because adam’s music can be polarizing… but my natural suspicion says the gay factor was heavily in play.
betcha adam’s album sells better than kris’s. the market is already saturated with milquetoast acoustic.
This is the first American Idol season I watched. And while I enjoyed it I am probably not going to watch again. Adam was clearly the more deserving of the two but whatever I feel lame for even having having an emotion about this. Go Kris I wish you the utmost success. Adam I’m waiting on that album!
@Mika: i know what you mean. i felt lame, then i realized there precious few out male role-models who are embraced by the main stream. woulda been nice.
@Chris: @dgz: ADAM WAS EMBRACED BY THE MAINSTREAM. He led in the voting all season long, was on the cover of every mainstream magazine (how many covers did Kris get? None) and according to DialIdol.com, he only lost by less than 1% of the votes.
Of course he did! Christ, you voted for Kris because he’s “cute”? Really, fuck you. In 30 years when a gay man is running for President, are you going to vote for his opponent because he’s “cute”, or are you going to take a stand and support equality?
You’re hitting the nail on the head but the unfortunate thing is gay people like you and me, are a dying breed. I don’t mean age wise, as I’m only 25, I mean having the spirit and thought that the gay “community” should behave like, I don’t know, a community! This is why Obama, the rest of our government, and governments across the world panders to the religious. Like them or not, they organize and fight for what they believe in, as a cohesive collective. While we’re acting in splinter cells while bickering with one another.
Sadly, This competition WAS a political statement, or at least it could have been. Yes, it’s just American Idol, but in this land American Idol has more sway than many ballots come election season. And as ridiculous as this sounds, the fact is we could have made some very underestimated strides in gay rights tonight. We didn’t, and this is just an example of why we won’t get our rights until we stop calling “little things” like the biggest prime time reality show “little things” and start taking every opportunity to secure OUR vision, something that the religious right has already figured out.
When did the LGBT community suddenly decide they like Rock over Mainstream Pop?
Because, if we were to really take a poll, I think we’d find that most LGBTs voted for Kris Allen because his music genre is what best represents them.
As one of those who were gay and punk at a time when you didn’t really felt like you belonged in either subculture, I can well attest to the fact that the gay community has never embraced rock and roll, and they certainly didn’t embrace Adam just because he was gay.
Frankly, I think that’s pretty fair, even if I do think it sometimes sucks. But then, I’d rather be alone than be a clone.
As much as I would love this show, and in particular this season, to be about the music, Kevin, it’s not.
You can’t vote, as noble as it is, on just the music and talent when your opposition is voting strictly on the basis of homophobia. If this were a perfect world then please, by all means vote for kris if you like his music better. But dear god, these people who hate us would vote for kris is he burped and farted on the mic for 30 minutes, why in the world would we in turn vote fair and on who we honestly like the most? None of us are kids anymore, we all should know how the world works, and we need to do what we have to do to win the fight.
In short, fuck playing fair. If they aren’t, and they’re going to win by NOT playing fair, we have to do what we have to do. If anyone likes Kris more, by all means, buy his album when it drops. But jesus, use your brains guys, vote for your fellow gay man like they’re voting for their fellow christian, otherwise in the big picture all we’re going to be left with is the feeling that we did the right thing….and no rights.
I’m not a huge fan of Idol and I only watched to see the final, but even I could see that Lambert was robbed–he has a much more dramatic and impressive voice. Kris Allen was pretty bland and unremarkable, but that’s what America wants.
@kevin (not that one): Gay people will listen to any music that is not hostile to them. Rock and Roll is perceived to be hostile to gay people that’s why they don’t listen to it.
BTW, I loved all of Adam’s performances and a lot that he did before Idol. I always got goosebumps when he sang.
@kevin (not that one): Who cares what genre he sung? He was GAY, damnit! We should’ve been behind him!
That’s why we’re so fucked up and fragmented. This never would’ve happened with the blacks. If Adam was to be the first black American Idol after a long line of white people, there wouldn’t be huge swaths questioning whether they should vote for him cause they don’t like his “style.” They’d all plug up those goddamn phone lines and vote for him anyway! You saw what they did for Obama.
There is just no solidarity among gays. No wonder we keep losing. These treacherous jerkfaces who voted for Kris cause he was so cute and “masculine” are akin to the large margin of gay Californians who didn’t even bother to vote on Prop 8.
@Bitch Republic: You are the one who is obviously on drugs since you can’t even express an original comment on your own. Get off your high horse and examine the reality of the situation instead of being the immature adolescent you are.
@AlwaysGay: Rock and roll hostile to gays? Is this the same rock and roll that gave us David Bowie, the New York Dolls, men in tight leather pants with bulging baskets, Darby Crash, Bob Mould, Pansy Division, Tribe 8 and Joan Jett?
Newsflash: the whole world is hostile to gays, but that’s no reason to not to visit the Middle East, eat authentic BBQ in a North Carolina restaurant, or listen to a music genre that’s more gender bending and anti-status quo than whatever the f&@k Michael Buble and Fergie are doing.
I think American Idol is a ridiculously stupid show, but I must say voting for someone just because they happen to share your sexuality is idiotic.
If you like his singing, fine, vote for him…but to pitch a hissy fit because all gays didn’t come together and vote for him just because he’s gay is entirely stupid.
All that aside most of these people can’t really sing and their album sales stink for a reason. Even then you could have the best voice in the world but if your lyrics suck you’ll tank anyway.
In the end it doesn’t matter who wins because they’ll be singing generic songs based on whatever genre their handlers think is in style this week.
American Idol is a joke and I honestly don’t see how anyone can enjoy Adam Lambert’s screaming. He sounds like a middle-aged woman going through menopause.
LAY THE FUCK OFF MICHAEL BUBLE! MICHAEL BUBLE DESERVES SOME FUCKIN’ RESPECT! kidding, sorta…you don’t want to fuck with buble fans. They can themselves bubleheads, and they’re rabid. It’s creepy. lol! I haven’t thought of buble’s ridiculous name in quite a while.
Gee, there has been a lot of bashing “bible thumpers” on the blogs tonight. Maybe these people will have to remember that next time they’re in a club dancing to something like Kim English’s “Everyday,” which is a straight up, praise-and-worship gospel song!
Your appropriation of the word “bashing” is repulsive, christer. Hey, when was the last time a christer gotten beaten to death because of self identified christianity, huh douchenozzle? Fucking zero=you.
You completely missed the point. It’s not only about the music, it goes much deeper than that as Adam winning could have seriously gave gay rights a boost in the eye of the public, which is the exact boost we need.
Stop focusing on just the music and focus on the big picture, what this could have meant for advancing gay rights. Because after all, at the end of the day that’s what we’re all fighting for, definitely moreso than a new album. It’s much bigger than the music.
You may not watch it, but over 30 million people a WEEK does. Do you really think that for people who are undecided on gay issues, yet become serious fans of these contestents aren’t going to be influenced by who they are?
Really? Do you understand politics, celebrity influence, and simple public opinion at all?
Maybe YOU personally wouldn’t be affect by this “joke” (as you put it) of a show, that brings in literally millions of viewers a week, but believe me, people who don’t really care about gay rights that vote; housewives, seniors, teenagers on the cusp of being voting age, they all make serious fan connections with these singers. And generally if the singer believes something, or IS something, he will sway his fans who typically didn’t care before, that’s called being a celebrity.
D-Sun (No 24) – You hit the nail on the head with what you said. Adam is going to do MUCH better being #2 and will have the freedom to do what he wants. He won’t have to contend with the AI contract crap. There were probably 25 music producers (Simon Cowell included) that were reaching for the phone as soon as Adam came in #2 to offer him a deal. I’m actually thrilled he came in #2.
However, with that being said, I think the only reason Kris won is because he picked up the Danny votes once he was booted off. Otherwise Adam would have taken it all. But, in all honesty, Kris deserved the win as well because he really did emerge as a good artist. His personality is lacking but he’s a nice guy.
unfortunately, that’s not correct. 19 entertainment has right of first refusal for all AI contestants’ contracts. adam is still strapped to the machine that has killed so many careers.
I’m surprised people are shocked he lost. After the hardcore fundie Danny (whose pastor told his flock to vote for “believer” Kris) got booted last week, I knew Adam’s goose was cooked. Of course they were going to go for Kris and not Adam.
For people that insist no way homophobia played a part, let me know how many times gays have come out victorious when they were put up to a public vote. Maybe all those anti-gay marriage amendments that go down in flames every election season (oh wait, every single one put up has passed..). Adam had his base that voted him into the finale, but in the end the public finally got a chance to make a referendum on Adam (which it was, the view I’ve seen on most forums seems to be joy that Adam lost, not that Kris won), they decided to kick the fag to the curb for boring Kris.
@Alex and Chris:
Thank you both so much for putting into words what I’ve been thinking. The gay community had a chance to unite in support of Adam, and yes, as hard as it is to believe, that support could have sent at least a small ripple of change into a broader range of situations. Too bad most people seem to be of the opinion that if it doesn’t directly affect them, they can’t be bothered with it.
who fucking cares about this? none of the people who have won american idol have long lasting talent. if they had actual talent they wouldn’t be on american idol. only a tiny minority buy these idiots records.
if an album is cut it will be in the reduced bin at wal mart in a couple of weeks.
adam lambert is the male liza minelli with less talent.
@GaryG: so, i should have watched american idol and voted for the queer even though i do not watch fox except for the cartoons on sunday just because i myself am queer?
i listened to both of these dudes sing on the web. neither has any real long lasting talent just like no winner or loser of american idol has had.
it was a forgone conclusion that adam would lose when o’leilly did his piece on his show.
the gay freak with his stupid assed pictures all over the web lost to the xtian. big fucking deal.
i wouldn’t piss on either of them if they were on fire.
You know, I found it interesting that O’Reilly made such a big deal out of the fact that Adam Lambert is gay and O’Reilly claimed that he doesn’t watch AI yet he was constantly reporting on the AI competition. O’Reilly made it clear, and clear to his viewers, that Kris was the better choice because he’s a Christian and Lambert is gay.
Frankly, I have never watched the AI show, but when I heard this morning that Kris won, I was not really surprised.
Gay people. Gay problems. Don’t want them. Don’t need them.
Adam = powerful voice that could be shrill and over the top. fun, campy, las vegas revue style but not an easy, listening, romance, comfort, casual style like Kris.
Kris’s style more affable and lifestyle affiliating to 30 plus. Adam’s style more affable to younger and those who think going to 11 is all that counts.
I am sooo fracking sick of hearing “Obama didn’t do this” and/or “america isnt ready for that.” We’re a fickle people, period. So we have to work with it, through it, and/or around it, if it works. But our typical bitching and moaning does none of that
Why should American Idol go any different than anything else? We had a real star with experience, strength, and character, but America wanted (with a little help from Pelosi & Brazil)an American Idol President! Well, unfortunately we have one!
I think Kris should have won because he is hotter of the two and a better performer. Adam may be able to sing better, but we learned from the whole Britney/Christina Aguilera thing that singing talent doesn’t necessarily make you the better pop star.
Can’t say I’ve ever watched the show, but if Adam Lambert was so good he’ll get a deal somewhere.
Going on what I’ve seen on YouTube, I won’t be buying his recordings (or the other guy’s, either).
I know I made this comment up-thread last night but no one has explained how anyone could argue that Kris had more talent than Adam. I understand someone might like his style more- that is a matter of taste- but when it comes to objective standards (range and power of voice) or stage presence and the ability to capture and hold the attention of an audience Adam wins hands down. That is really the problem with the voting in these types of shows- people vote their taste. I do believe a lot of people voted against Adam, but most of the people here who say they voted for Kris did so becuase they liked his style more. That is what I have a problem with.
@D-Sun:
I agree with everything you just said.
It will be interesting to see whether Cowell criticises the result of the public vote (he killed the format in the UK after the ever so slightly rotund and painfully screechy Michelle McManus won series two of Pop Idol back in 2003, to throw his effort into X Factor).
Expect Adam to crop up soon on ‘Ellen’ and perhaps perform on the new Leno show.
I can’t believe I care about this crap.
Back to reading Dostoevsky.
This is what Adam had to say on Mtv “My dream now is to make a really dope record, to do something new, push the boundaries a little bit, push people’s buttons, open people’s minds up a little bit. And you know what’s really, really cool about Kris being in the finals tonight? We are seemingly so different, but we found a way to get along and find a common bond â mostly through music, but also just through talking and getting to know each other. And if there’s anything that could come from this experience that I hope all the fans out there can pick up is that even if you’re really different, there’s a way to get along with each other. It’s not about, “Oh, you beat me because of this” or “You’re different.” It’s about finding the common stuff that makes it work. We got up there and did the Queen duet, and we made it work, because we found a common ground with each other.”
Kris is 22 and Adam is 27. It is not Kris is cuter than Adam, it is Adam is older. Reverse the ages and you reverse the cuteness factor. The Adam is gay talk made him unavailable to the teenager girls and it brought out the hate vote. The show was very careful not to mention Kris is married. Simon actually got upset on the show when Kris started talking about his wife. All said, Adam was the best singer. In the singing department, Kris wasn’t even second. Probably, Kris was the fourth best singer. So what is the verdict? Did being gay cost Adam the title on American Idol. Yeah, Iâm afraid it did. I do not doubt that whole bunch of gay guys voted for Kris. The gays in Florida who voted for George W. Bush in Florida in 2000 (30% of the gay vote) elected Bush President of the United States.
@The Gay: You are correct. They know silly ass, loney queens who are socially disfunctional watch this trash while giggling on the phone with some other queen of equal social standing.
Get a life people. January is only 7 months away. I look forward to the first 4 weeks to show those who made complete asses of themselves and can’t accept they do not have the talent they thought they had. My most classic memory is the tryout in Miami where this 20 something cuban asshole who was showing off his barely visible bicep and tight pants with a sock stuff in them CRIED when he was told he did not make it. He cried in his girlfriends arms.
I can only imagine the banging he got that night after she strapped it on. I hope she did not use grease.
Hey, I’ve got this KA-RAAAAAZY idea, kids! Instead of all of you bitching and moaning about the results of contest on one of the WORST TV shows in history, how about using your phones to call the White House and your Senators and Congresspersons and SCREAM at them to end DADT and DOMA, prosecute the criminals of the Bush Administration (especially that old hag Cheney), and carry out the agenda WE voted for in 2008. Why is everybody wasting their time calling in votes for third-rate rock stars who probably couldn’t get jobs fronting local garage bands? Think of the effect 1 MILLION phone calls from gay men and women would have on policy in this country. Stop bitching about that stupid fucking American Idol and start bitching about how much you want a better life! WTF, people?!!!
I voted for Adam Lambert, I find him very appealing and interesting, I think he is talented & I shall buy his music, I adore him sooo much for being an out gay man, and I know he’s verrrry attractive.
But, he brings out the ignorance & uncomfortability in more than half
of the idiotic watchers of American Idol so, of course, it’s predictable that
the “humble/all-american/values” Kris would be boostered up to win the title.
I think Kris is probably a nice, generous guy but for Adam to claim the official title of American Idol would have been a landmark for the gay cause in this nation.
Coulda, woulda shoulda-
I still think Lambert is sexy, fab, and has the swagger of a champion.
Simon Cowell was obviously annoyed by the choice of the newly annointed American Idol (which is very revealing)
The Adam and Kiss performance was so glam and EPIC!
& Kris’ momma was super cute.
Maybe we could all band-together for any sort of gay agendas to come in the not-so-distant future?
@Joey: That’s a bit of a stretch. President of the United States and winner of Americal Idol 2009 don’t even compare.
It would have been nice to see Adam win (I don’t watch it much but that would have been my preference), but everything isn’t an anti-gay agenda. I don’t doubt at all that there were some fundies who ran to the payphones in their Talladega trailer parks to vote against him, but it wasn’t some coordinated attack the way some people make it out to be.
And as many have said, 2nd place usually ends up having more success in the long run. On a personal note, I have more losers of American Idol (Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry) on my iPod than winners (Kelly Clarkson).
Adam didn’t lose because he was gay. He lost because his style didn’t have the same broad appeal that Kris’ has. I liked Adam, but in the end I couldn’t vote for him cause every song he did he did this irritating screech at the end. Other than that I liked his voice, but the screeching at the end always ruined it for me. The only song he did well that I loved was “Mad World”. I voted for Kris cause he had a more radio friendly voice, something I could see myself listening to.
Besides if you watched Tuesday’s performances you would see that Kris won that round. Kris won the first round and Adam won the second. That last round where they had to sing that horrible song “No Boundaries” I think Kris did a better job with it then Adam…although it’s still a horrible song and I have absolutely no idea WTH Kara was thinking when she wrote that pile of crap.
I don’t really follow AI, so it’s not consequential to me, but I know gay people who were rooting for Kris because they just liked him better than Adam.
All of these reality contests show the bigotry rooted in America. Ever notice how the African-American kids (nearly always the best singers) get booted out of AI early on. Latinos, if light-skinned like Allison, do better but we know they will be gone. Sanajaya was turned into a joke so Americans could laugh at the idea of an Indian-American becoming a pop-star. Then we had Anoop who demonstrated great vocal chops throughout but kept being in the bottom three. Of course Adam’s loss was blatant homophobia. Americans are for hetrosexuals with blonde hair and pert noses whose names can be traced to the Mayflower. The change Barack promised has not come to pass.
Eh. They’re almost all gay, so who cares? I’m sure this site will be all excited if Kris ends up with the eventual “Yup, I’m Gay” People cover. Gay Aiken, anyone?
“Broad appeal,” “too theatrical.” That’s all we keep hearing about.
If Adam didn’t have broad appeal and was too theatrical (code word for effeminate), then how the fuck did he make it to the final show in the first place?
It’s 2009 for christ’s sake. There are plenty of artists like Adam who sell and have sold millions of records. Who are you to say he doesn’t have broad appeal?
If Adam goes on to be more successful than that dull piece of shit Kris, will you be forced to eat that “broad appeal” crap?
I have a hard time believing that, with the amazing progress we’ve made in recent months in terms of equality in marriage (who would have thought the only vocal opposition to a state legalizing marriage equality would be an ad so terrible that even opponents hate it?) and getting issues like DADT more exposure in the public eye, that a contestant on a song contest would get this far, only to lose solely because he’s gay.
Why do I think he lost? Because Americans have always loved the underdog. Adam Lambert has been considered the favorite for months now, and not just on sites like this one, in the main-stream media. All it takes is enough people to say “Adam will win anyway, so I won’t vote” or “Adam will win anyway, but I still want to support Kris” to yield a result that doesn’t fit what we expected, but fits with America’s “Anyone can win” mentality.
My God, some of you people are so quick to play the victim. Adam didn’t lose because he’s gay, he lost because he’s too edgy and theatrical, plus Kris Allen had the 13 year old “OMG he’s so dreamy” vote locked down. Bottomline: Kris needed it more than Adam, both will have careers (though I do think Adam is more talented), and Adam Lambert doesn’t have to sing that stupid, stupid song.
@The Gay Numbers: That leaves poor Clay who is what exactly?
—–
Clay is the super talented singer who has 4 albums and 6 million in sales (more than Chris Daughtry). He was black balled on radio and still sold millions. His 4th album is fucking amazing but I bet you never heard a single song because the media has been so busy bashing his sexuality for the past 6 years that it drowned out what an incredible singer he is.
He sounds nothing like what they had to sing on AI yet he is still tainted with the slams that the AI judges put on him. He isn’t like Barry Manilow nor is he just a crooner or too theatrical. He also has a wicked sense of humor. He is hilarious in concert when he talks with the audience between songs and he doesn’t mind laughing at himself i.e. 30 Rock last week.
Here’s a suggestion, why not refrain from commenting in the negative when you don’t know the subject.
My fiance and I watched the whole season for the first time. We loved Danny, but ultimately we were huge fans and supporters of Adam. We voted for him more than any other contestant throughout the whole season, and after the last few shows, we only voted for him, even 20 times after the finale… we heard rumors about his sexuality, and we are conservative Catholic people… none of that mattered to us as concerns his completely unparalleled talent this season, and his ability to sing and entertain. It was a huge blow to us when he lost. I feel like Kris has a pretty boy face, and does have a genuinely nice personality, but I see him singing in a college coffee house… even he commented, immediately after winning, that it should have been Adam. Adam was just born to to do this. I can’t wait to see what he does with his musical career.
If I went into a bar and saw both Adam & Kris, I’d be after Kris in a minute. It’s not about gay/straight, it’s about the “david bowie” factor… how much can America put up with a performer who pushes the envelope beyond Major Tom …?
I am gay and I voted for Kris. I picked him as the winner from day one. Adam was way too clown-ish for my taste. The gay was runner-up… that’s quite an amazing result.
@Colin: Apparently Bono liked the version..so ‘just awful’ was your opinion which is yours to make, but don’t present it as fact. Say “…which in my opinion was just awful”
I hate this whole discussion! Maybe Kris won just because people liked him better? Musical ability to some degree can be defined objectively, and by most standards Adam is a better singer than Kris (and Adam has an amazing range). By other standards Kris is a better overall musician than Adam (remember that in addition to singing, during the course of the show he played three different instruments, and apparently plays a couple of others as well).
But musical taste is entirely subjective. I respect Adam’s talent, and he seems like one hell of a nice guy. But I couldn’t stand the sneering, the screaming, the strutting, the over-the-top performances. Other people loved that. There’s no right or wrong. Similarly, I loved Kris’s ability to really interpret songs and to come up with interesting, surprising arrangements, and I will buy his CD the minute it comes out. Other people think he’s safe and boring.
At the end of the day, this is just a freakin’ talent show, people, not a gay/straight, Jewish/Christian, red state/blue state referendum. This whole “Adam lost because he is guy” hysteria is insulting and pointless.
Kris and Adam are now going to launch their music careers, and they will rise and fall on their own merits. Best of luck to both of them.
Talent is talent. Adam Lambert has TALENT in capitol letters! This was supposed to be a singing competition and strictly speaking vocally – Adam Lambert wins 10,000 times over. He has the bigger voice, the better pitch, the best technique-hitting those astronomical high notes, the professionalism, the personality, the passion, presence and great looks. WHO CARES! if he gay or bi or straight – the man has TALENT and Kris (bless his heart) doesn’t even come close to Adam’s talent league. And if we are to vote on AI based on private lives, religious convictions and what we prefer in terms of looks – then why don’t we just have a beauty contest and leave it at that!
I also have my own conspiracy theory that no matter who America voted for, whethr it be Adam or Kris, FOX NOISE was going to have the last word, and they did! I feel bad for Kris, because he will continually be compared with Adam, unfairly maybe, but never the less he will be.
And incidently, did anyone notice that Simon did not stand up when Kris was pronounced the winner?
I think this is my last one; lots of others who feel the same way. It’s gotten too bizarre.
@Chris & @Alex: In my opinion, the fact that anti-gay religious groups organized a vote against Adam because of his sexual orientation and that gay people didn’t speaks far less about the laziness and disorganization of gay people, and volumes about the lunacy of the anti-gay crowd.
I highly doubt that message will be lost on others.
What happened to Adam happened to Clay Aiken as noted in some of the posts above. Ruben Studdard’s father laughed about Clay Aiken being Gay and that Ruben would sell more albums..Well, we know that Clay Aiken, who came in second (and all the rumors that the vote was rigged and phone lines jammed) outsold Ruben and its “Ruben, who” and no one remembers him but Clay Aiken continues to do extremely well.
Kris Allen is quoted as stating that Christian voters shouldn’t vote for him because he is Christian and its not about that since he know Gokey’s voters were going to do just that and vote against Adam because he is Gay.
Paula Abdul stated that she wondered what Danny Gokey’s voters would do…she knew what was coming.
As to Adam getting a record deal, the top 4 performers all get record contracts with Simon Cowell’s company…I believe they get a 3 CD deal….so don’t worry about Adam Lambert, he will outsell Kris Allen, who is talented but will never be the talent that Adam Lambert is. Look at Chris Daughtry, who is under Simon Cowell’s label and is extremely successful (he came in 4th and lost to the Taylor “no talent’ Hicks…..
Jennifer Hudson came in 4th and ended up with an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy and is extremely successful.
Adam will laugh all the way to the bank as the saying goes and will be wildly successful and will be right up there with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
I still don’t understand the comments that he wore too much make up, eye liner and was a glam dresser…um, he is Rock singer…how come those comments aren’t made about all the str8 Rockers who do that all the time….shades of homophobia even amongst Gays bothers me beyond belief.
As has also been said about the “cute factor”…..Kris is baby faced 22 yr old and Adam is 27..there is a difference..cute won’t get you very far when it comes to singing talent…Kris is talented but when the “cute boy next door” factor fades with age, well we know what happens. I wish Kris a good career and he seems like a decent guy but once again if you are Gay you get screwed in this country and Adam was clearly robbed..just as Clay Aiken was based upon the “gay rumors”when he was in the competition.
I have always thought that winning is a curse since except for Two winners (Carrie Underwood, who is a country singer) and Kelly Clarkson (rocker) none of the winners have done well but those in 2nd, and it seems 4th place (ala Clay Aiken-2nd place, Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry-4th place respectively) end up with the freedom to do amazingly well.
If you notice Kelly Clarkson never really mentions her AI win.
Carrie Underwood knows her country base watch AI so she is smart enough to acknowledge her winning there and keep showing up on the show since it ramps up CD sales..as Kelly Clarkson has done..but to me when Kelly Clarkson was on the show, she reminded me of a Judy Garland with her singing talent and she still does….so I knew our community would embrace her and we have….I love that she doesn’t give a damn about being waif thin, wears what she wants and sings what she wants and is happy to be whom she is and not some Hollywood robot.
Adam will go his own way and be Adam which will make him wildly successful and an icon over the years for being himself and doing it his way……in years to come it will be (AND I do like Kris Allen) but it will be Kris who and everyone will know who Adam Lambert is..the mega star and icon he will be.
in any event Congratulations to both Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.
Kris won because the Danny Gokey fans voted for Kris because they like that type of music. It wasn’t because Adam is gay…so stop all the gay vs. christian nonsense. Not all Christians hate gays and gays are not anti-christian.
@Chris: Ditto. There are implications to this otherwise meaningless event that extend far beyond a flippin’ TV show. When the right wing’s lunatic fringe can stick its lily-white fingers into a singing competition, thereby denying the most stunningly talented contestant his laurels, they’re capable of mucking around in every other aspect of American life. Don’t doubt it.
You damned well better believe this was an organized effort. Apply some logic to the situation. Lambert was the clear (and clearly deserving) leader this season until Gokeyokel got kicked to the curb and all his embittered and prayerful fans joined forces with the KA camp. I just hope to hell one big, fat, ugly, glaring spotlight gets turned on the fundies’ small-mindedness as a result of this travesty.
America decided it’d rather hate a gay artist than fairly decide based on talent.
These wannabe queers planted here saying I’m gay and voted for Kris = some of my best friends are……
EW: I want to just get this question out of the way first, something that’s been dangling a bit over you for the whole season: Would you like to put to rest all the speculation about your sexuality?
Adam: It’s not dangling over my head. [Laughing] It may be dangling over yours, but it’s not over mine. Yeah, I think speculation keeps things really interesting.
EW: So you don’t want to say anything one way or the other?
Adam: Like I said, I think speculation keeps things very, very interesting. [Laughs]
I wanted Adam to win this bitch so bad. Okay, there are many things wrong with Idol, but you want the best to win. In my book, Adam had everything right… with the exception that he doesn’t appeal to the masses. But I thought that his strengths would compensate for that. He is the best male talent (and perhaps best talent, irrespective of gender) that American Idol has unearthed in the show’s eight-season-and-counting history. I don’t hate Kris Allen or anything. It’s just that while he was a competent singer and musician, he didn’t do anything that ten thousand like-minded guitar-wielding coffeehouse crooners did. He had good performances, but merely GOOD performances. On the biggest stage in the world, he had to be more than GOOD. And his title notwithstanding, he wasn’t. Kris, in my opinion, was the ultimate “non-threatening boy” of Simpsons lore, and Adam was anything but non-threatening. In fact, Adam is the only legitimate non-non-threatening boy to make the finals of American Idol. Even gritty acts like Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, and David Cook had “non-threatening” qualities about them. Adam Lambert was the baddest bitch that this show had ever had, and he still lost because he wasn’t as “commercial” or “marketable” as Kris Allen. Still, if there’s any consolation, at least now Adam can go out and do his thing without having “No Boundaries” on his dossier.
It was an organized effort and even Kris tacitly acknowledged that and said he hoped that Christians (Danny’s voters) wouldn’t vote for him just because he is Christian.
I am a Christian and when you get Paula saying she wonders what Danny’s voters will do and whom they will vote for and you get Bill O’Reilly and the Newsweek Entertainment reporting spending several minutes discussing the “CHRISTIAN” Voters on American Idol you can bet that played a big part here.
It did with Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard and it did here.
I am not saying all Christians are homophobes but you can bet that the born again Christians/the Danny Gokey voters voted against Adam as opposed to voting for Kris…..when you get the morons like Michael Sarver talking about how he loves Danny in that right Christian God like way, you know what they meant.
To think otherwise is purely naivete.
If Adam were str8..you can count on he would have won by a landslide……and I don’t take Kris’s talent away from him but he deserved to be in the final two..he just didn’t deserve to win, particularly based upon his extremely weak Finals performance on two of the three songs he sang. IF Adam were str8, he would have ended up the winner.
last year you had two singers in the Finals (one str8 rocker type with David Cook and the other like Kris Allen in the form of David Archiletta)..and who won? The Rocker-David Cook..so I don’t buy the b.s. that Kris won this year because he has the more mellow voice..by that standard then David Archiletta should have won last year.
There were more votes cast than in the presidential election. That doesn’t mean more people voted. Most who voted on idol voted more than once. Also, there was a large under 18 voting block. So enough with the (stupid) comparisons to the presidential election.
And did anyone really think that the Gokey voting block would switch to Adam over Kris?
Agree with the poster – look at the career of Jennifer Hudson versus Fantasia Barrino’s. Adam will be fine (Queen has probably hired him by now).
Okay, all of you claiming O’Reilly led a huge campaign against Adam Lambert are deluded and/or lying.
I just looked it up on YouTube and O’Reilly did no such thing. He asked two pundits whether the photos of Adam kissing a guy would affect his chances on the show. Both pundits said NO they don’t think it would affect Adam’s chances on AI.
Margaret Hoover said, “We’ve had gay cultural icons since Liberace. Nobody stopped buying Elton John albums because he was gay. Nobody stopped listening to Ani DiFranco or Tracy Chapman.”
O’Reilly summed it up at the end by saying “If he [Adam] is the best singer, then he should win.”
EW: I want to just get this question out of the way first, something thatâs been dangling a bit over you for the whole season: Would you like to put to rest all the speculation about your sexuality?
LAMBERT: Itâs not dangling over my head. [Laughing] It may be dangling over yours, but itâs not over mine. Yeah, I think speculation keeps things really interesting.
EW: So you donât want to say anything one way or the other?
LAMBERT: Like I said, I think speculation keeps things very, very interesting. [Laughs]
IF ADAM LAMBERT CAN’T COME OUT, THEN HE DOESN’T DESERVE THE GAY VOTE ANYWAY.
@Chris: I know that you’re an idiot who puts way too much weight on a shitty tv show. Maybe Alex can refer you to whatever medication he’s on. Sounds like you need some.
@BradSA: Yah, I just started watching it before I clicked back here… but in the latest clip, O’Reilly is still NOT inciting Christians to vote against Adam. He is reporting on an article written by Newsweek that there may be a Christian influence in the voting.
O’Reilly specifically said towards the end that while there may be a cultural influence, he said he believed the judges favoring Adam would hold a lot of sway with voters as well.
@JohnVisser:
Adamn was freakinqq amazinqq. HE DESEVED TO WINN! NOT CHRIS. Uqhh what is up with america’s votinq. Evrybody knows adams better. But he will make it biqqer den chris. Juxx watch.!
Clay Aiken calls it like it is. He blogged about Adam’s loss today, and I couldn’t agree more.
“05/21/09 Silence Broken
This is just an edited version of an answer I gave to a question on the âQuestionsâ thread.
I spent enough time typing it, I figured it would be easier for you to find here (on his blog).
Now that itâs all over, and for the recordâŠ. I couldnât be happier about the way AI ended this year. I only turn the show on once a season, and only to see what the set looks like each year. This year, I happened to turn it during the minute that Adam Lambert was singing âRing of Fireâ and, at that moment, thought my ears would bleed. Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening! I wasnât really a fan and found myself surprised whenever folks told me that they liked him. Granted, I never saw another performance (and many folks who I trust said that he was great) but I canât imagine I would have enjoyed it. Just not my cup of tea at all. To each his own.
I never saw Kris sing on the show, but whether he was good or not is really relative. Itâs usually a matter of taste, right? But Idol is not always a matter of musical taste only. Itâs about the person you like. From what little I saw, Kris seemed likable. (Thatâs not to say that Adam isnât just as likable as anyone.. maybe more so⊠I donât know) When Ruben and I were standing next to each other every night (many years ago) you had two equally talented, equally unlikely, equally unpolished contestantsâŠ. so it really was a matter of taste as to who was voted for.
While some may argue that one of us was hyped more than the other, I donât feel that was the case. However, this year, there was an obvious bias. Not even having watched the show, I can tell you that I was WELL aware of the bias from the judges as to who should win. In my opinion, that is awfully unattractive. I donât think I am alone.
In my opinion, it all often comes down to that last night of voting. Until the finale, folks are voting for the contestant that they want to see continue. But, I believe that on that last night, the dynamic changes.
No longer forced to choose one person that they want to see win, the audience can effectively vote AGAINST the person that they donât want to see win. In the case of season two this might have happened.
There may have been some folks who voted for myself or Ruben because they didnât like the other of us. I was the nerdy little girly boy who some didnât want to see win, so they may have voted for Ruben. I donât know. .. But again, I feel that Ruben and I were fairly matched.
We both had our detractors and negatives, but I feel we were both very worthy of being on that stage in that moment, and either of us would have been worthy of winning. The show was different then, and folks made it in seasons 1-3 because they were ârealâ people who happened to sing/entertain well.
But, somewhere along the way, AI stopped being about real people and started being about âfameâ and âglossâ; It stopped being about the talented kid-next-door and started being about who was most marketable. (I donât think anyone would have argued in 2003 that Ruben or I were extremely marketable.)
So, this year it was not like 2003. This year it all came down to two contestants so extremely different and mis-matchedâŠ. one that was so obviously the âfavoriteâ⊠so hyped and polished and âready for marketâ; who (accurately or inaccurately) came off to many as arrogant and superior ⊠and one kid who no one thought had a chance and (accurately or inaccurately) came off as humble and real.
In a battle between David and Goliath, my money is on David!
I think many voters got sick of being âtold who to vote forâ. I think many were turned off by the blatant favoritism shown towards one contestant. Therefore, on that last night, they used their votes against a contestant that they were tired of hearing about and for the contestant who had been written off. And, at the same time, I think they voted AGAINST an American Idol that has, for four years now, been more about the slick productions and polished contestants than it has been about finding the raw talent that it did in its first three seasons.
Those votes for Kris were also votes to return the show to its roots of finding ârealâ contestants with undiscovered talent and giving them the chance to grow and shine. They were votes that said âweâre tired of seeing contestants who already seem to know it allâ.
Will American Idol choose to listen to the resounding and clarion call that those voters gave them?âŠ. âEnough with the pretention. More Rubens, more Clays, more Fantasias and Tamyras and Kellys please.â My faith has always been in the voters.
I think they have gotten it right every year (mine included). Itâs now up to American Idol to decide if it will finally REALLY listen to the folks that keep it on the air.”
Haterosexuals are coming onto gay websites today pretending to be gay and saying all these nasty things about him. Adam is the superior singer, performer and personality and always will be.
Just to throw my two-cents in (and I’m listening to Mad World by Adam on my iTunes right now), here is the way my thoughts went during the season and part of the reason I think Kris won.
1) I started out pulling (I wince now to think of it) for Danny Gokey because of the quality of his voice. It didn’t take long before I couldn’t stand to look at him as his hokey, unimaginative takes on sappy ballads wore thin quickly.
2) About that time, I started noticing Adam. He became my clear favorite after Ring of Fire and by Mad World I was passionate that he was the BEST EVER on Idol. At this time, I still didn’t know who Kris was.
3) Towards the end of the year, Adam’s take on songs was beginning to get a little tiresome. The screaming was great on some songs, weird on others. Meanwhile, Kris was finally coming into his own with his distinctive voice and folksy manners.
By the last night, I was still pulling for Adam, but didn’t really care either way. As happens a lot of times in competitions, I think Kris peaked at the right time because people didn’t pay a lot of attention to him until the very end. Adam was always center stage, so you could lose interest over time.
Aren’t things like the impending CA Supreme Court decision that almost certainly will uphold Prop 8, and the ridiculous efforts of NOM, a hell of a lot more important and meaningful than who won a game show? Two kids, talented in very different ways. One won, one lost. Doesn’t change my life one bit. As a gay Christian Kris fan, I would have been happy for Adam if he had won, and part of me wanted him to because of the backlash and overreaction.
In a world where Constitutional rights are being taken away and kids like Lawrence King are getting murdered just for being gay, THIS is where we focus our outrage? It’s a game show, people. Let’s move on to things that really matter.
Considering you betrayed the gay community this time, does that mean you’ll betray us again when a gay candidate for President comes up in the next 30 years?
I said it in a serious manner. I mean, if he doesn’t feel the need to support a fellow gay person in the biggest contest in U.S. television history, why would he feel the need to support a gay candidate for President?
It proves that gay people never come out on top. In the movie Philadelphia, Andrew Beckett is the hero of the movie, but he dies in the end. In American Idol, Adam Lambert made it to the end of the season, but he lost in the end. When is a gay person actually going to WIN?
@ Joey: Okay, I hate to engage you on this, but: what the fuck? What if there were a gay candidate, but other candidates were better? Would it be a “betrayal” for gay people to go with someone else? Was it the duty of every woman in America to vote for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary, and then for McCain in the presidential election because Sarah Palin was on the ticket? Was every Hispanic required to vote for Bill Richardson in the primary? Every African-American required to vote for President Obama? Your position is ridiculous, and it actually served to marginalize the gay community. We, like everyone else, should be judged on our merits.
Again, what’s more important: marriage equality and the repeals of DOMA and DADT, or who wins American Idol?
So you’re telling that you’d literally be willing, if a serious gay candidate emerged, to vote against them? I mean come on, we all know why all the Blacks (apart from 5%) voted for Obama, and why the majority of women supported Hillary. The fact is that we as a community need to stand together, and we’ve been doing it less and less as time goes by.
i think clay might be a leeetle jealous that he’s no longer AI’s most prominent queen.
and while he has a valid point, you have to understand that when you hire judges… they’re going to judge. they liked adam better. arkansas clearly disagreed (casting 1/3 of total votes). but no one complained during x-factor when the judges fawned over leona lewis, who was clearly superior to her competition.
kris won, fair and square. but that doesn’t mean that he’s better, or more deserving than someone who has dedicated their life to studying performance. a better question for clay might be: should we reward talent, or is this competition better titled “hometown hero?”
@scott ny’er: The thing is that Clay has the unique perspective of having been through the AI mill. He knows what goes on behind the scenes and he knows the judges and the production staff personally. I think his opinion carries a lot more weight than an onlooker.
Don’t be mad that he doesn’t like Adam’s singing. There are millions of people who agreed with him including a lot of people in this thread.
@BradSA: his opinion wasn’t given on the AI process, it was given on the reason people voted for Kris in lieu of adam. he has no more expertise than you or me on that topic, whatsoever.
i’ll say again: regionalism. arkansas voted 38 million times. it wasn’t some grand rejection of the AI producers, as clay suggests.
Adam has nothing to worry about – he’ll be on tour with Queen by the end of the week, and making records next week. Kris will go nowhere and disappear into obscurity. The “Idol” crown hasn’t helped anyone xCept maybe Carrie Underwood.
Ruben Studdard?
Taylor Hicks?
Jordin Sparks?
Fantasia?
– or –
Clay Aiken
Jenn Hudson
Chris Daughtry
nuff said. The place to finish is 2nd-4th. You get the exposure without any of the “idol” stereotyping.
Truth be told . People votes were as usaul bios the best Singer its Adam and Nothing else supposed to matter. I don’t really know how Chris even got this far cuz Danny its much better singer than him . booooo hooooo
BloughMee (who has a great screen name, BTW), is right. Adam is now world-famous and lost in an upset to a cute little fundie who will make one sorry album and disappear. Meanwhile, Adam will keep going. And whether it’s in stadium appearances or piano bar at the Duplex in Greeenwich Village (probably both), he’ll still be a hit because his personality is so oversized. Meanwhile, poor li’l Kris won’t even be remembered in Branson in a couple of years.
I am the straight single mother of a gay man, and have many gay friends, I believe Adam lost because like someone said earlier, his music is edgy, sometimes over the top for some people. I Loved him, will buy his first cd, and to tell you the truth, I believe he gets the better end of the deal because he isn’t locked in with Idol like Kris is. I will also be buying one of Kris’ albums, they are both very very talented yound men.
The gay community needs to get over pulling the “victim card”.
I am about as white-bread-conservative-50ish as you are gonna get. Don’t presume to insult other’s opinions by pulling the “Adam didnt win because he is gay” card. I also happen to be a well-trained pro musician.
Adam has incredible charisma and performance ability. Vocally, his higher voice may limit his versatility and he does tend to pull out the same bag of “tricks” when stylizing a song. With that said, he is the better performer between he and Kris Allen.
HOWEVER, he may have limited his audience the same way a hard-core country singer may.
As I said – Get over it – the voting demographic on that show is a bunch of 11-14 yr old girls. Picture them going to bed and repeatedly texting their 300 votes until 2 am.
It is what is is…..stop trying to make it a “GAY” issue.
He id lose not really because he’s gay, well some of it, but because the way he looks. The old women and older collage of men and women don’t like the black hair, black clothes, eyeliner, and black nailpolish. Some people just voted for kris , so adam wouldn’t win. I know a few people who did. But the gayness is part of some of it. THIS IS A SINGING COMPETITION PEOPLE .
@sheryl: part of it is because he’s gay , and dont try to deny it, it was, not all of it, but some. i know ALOT ALOT ALOT of people who didn’t vote for him because he’s gay.
Being gay or being perceived as gay hurt Adam Lambert big time. I have many acquaintances that voted against him, by voting for Kris. Even my neighbor voted for Kris ten times in order to help defeat Adam. I was saddened to hear what my neighbor did.
Nevertheless, the bottom line blame goes to the creators of American Idol, they are only interested in making money off their voting system. If they were truly interested in having the best contestant win, they should only allow one vote per phone number.
Instead, they allow one person to vote several hundred times. Moreover, the religious yahoos had a three-hour start on the voting, than those on the west coast. Most viewers do not understand that they can start voting at 9 PM EST, which is the same as 6 PM PST. For those that do not know, American Idol is not live in the west coast, it is a recording.
It is too bad that people will never stop judging others… Let me think… Christians⊠“What would Jesus, do?” For all one knows, Jesus might have been bisexual. After all, there is no record of him ever been married.
Kris comes across as a good person, but even he is in disbelief. Oh, well that is what we get for being addicted to karaoke show.
There is far too much damn whinning going on! Kris and Adam both have talent. Some things that may have prevented some from voting for Adam are: Guy liner, over the top theatrics and screeching! Kris embodies the boy next door and his style is mainstream, that’s why he won! If the basis of the show was to find someone to do Liza Minelli impersonations, Adam would have won hands down! Wait for America’s Next Broaway Star!
C’mon boys and girls…or whatever you want to be. Personally, I dont care what homosexuals do in private to each other. However, I do not want my kids or my grandkids growing up thinking that a perverted sexual act between same sex parteners is “OK”. Its not ok. Its sick. Get a doctor and dont let them tell you being a fag is ok…because its not ok. Dont kill yourself, dont think you are less of a person, because you are not…you just need help…being a queer is not normal. Look at the animals around you. How many queers in a herd of cattle do you see? If being a queer were “OK” there would be queer animals…they dont exist. dont let some anthropologist tell you that they do…because they dont.
Why don’t you just go back to your tits and ass site and leave the gays alone? No one asked you for your dumb, two-cents worth.
And just for your information, homosexuality DOES occur within all of the animal kingdom. It’s a documented fact.
Do some research before you shoot your ignorant mouth off and maybe you won’t come off looking like such an a–hole the next time you troll for semi-nude, male pics here.
everyone knows he lost because he’s gay and Danny threw his Christians at Kris before the final vote. If you are a Christian and you can’t admit this you are lying. Lying is a sin. Christians can go to hell for that. Better repent and start admitting the God’s truth. We all know what that is.
Sore losers what a bunch you are! Kris Allen won because more people preferred his style of singing than Adam’s. I mean I can’t imagine playing a whole CD of Adam’s screaming while driving, I’m gonna crash, man! Neither would I play it in bed, I’ll get nightmares! Adam is superb if you like his style of singing, theatrical and loud. But I’m sure those who voted for Kris Allen’s liked his soothing vocals and his ability to reach out emotionally with his songs. If you like Adam, then wait for his album and buy. Stop acting like little children!
I would buy a ticket to an Adam Lambert concert, way before I would think of spending any money on any of the other top 10.
I love going to concerts ,am frequently in front row mosh pit,and thought Kris was cute, but Adam Lambert is so much more.
I think he lost (barely) for several reasons, and I don’t think the loss will hurt him one bit. Is he clearly the better Idol..let’s let the c.d. sales and tour results speak for themselves. Teen girls my crush and vote for someone, but it rarely means they will spend money on tickets, and give ongoing support long term. This is where Adam will come out the clear winner.
WOW !!! Liam is that missing link they are all talking about.. between man and ape…Go Liam…. your thought process is still in the stone ages!!! I’m sure your kids are very proud of their Dad….. or not.. how old are they? Maybe you will get a surprise when they explore their sexuality….or maybe they will hide it from you, knowing how closed minded you are.
Keep your fingers crossed bro..better yet, don’t breed. đ
Well I do not think Kris can sing better than the average person in a choir. In fact, I don’t think he actually sings. He didn’t actually hit many notes in the horrible song by Kara. He is cute…yeah…not sexy and his southern christian boy with a wife routine was a yawn fest. I don’t know why Kris won AI. He is not talented at all IMHO. America has a taste for that type of thing…sorta like France likes Jerry Lewis..who knows why?…as I was watching the show I wondered if America was just plain deaf.
Adam on the other hand is the most talented singer the show has ever had….ever…and probably ever will
As far as losing goes for Adam…not a surprise…predictable from an American audience….
I thought it would come down to Danny, Allison and Adam but clearly people weren’t voting for the singing talent here. I also think Matt sings better than Kris as well. Actually I would put Kris as far as singing talent as far down as 8th in this competition.
I hope Adam has a true international recording career. Kris can a keep on a sangin'(if that is what one would call that noise) in Arkansas! Hee Haw!
Just for the demographic…I am a 47 year old white gay male physician who could sing Kris right off the stage without screaming and without a microphone.
Kris’ won American idol because
1) his fans learned how to power text from multiple go phones(that were given out at multiple stores in AR) and use software to tie up Adams phone lines (no conspiracy theory, it was admitted to). People brag they voted 20, 100 times? Many of of Kris’ fans in AR racked up 5-15 thousand votes. Sure, Adams fans did too but the south is known to be a bit rabid in their support of one of their own. How do you think in a state of 2.5 million people they tallies up 30+% of the total vote?
2) Danny Gokeys AI forum fan base never hid their dilike for Adam or his “lifestyle” and vowed to power vote for Kris ans against Adam.
3) I have clients who’ve told me AI was much discussed in their churches and Sunday schools and were encouraged to see the “right man win”. Whether it was Gokey or Allen, it was always presented as “the sinner vs the saint”.
4) America is almost always divided 55-45 on every issue with the more liberal aspect on the loosing end.
I havent watched AI in 4 years but this year adam caught my eye. I voted my ass off for Adam and you ask any hardcore voter out there if they could even log 10 votes for him the first three hours of voting in their part of the country. All say the same thing..after 3 hours the lines magically opened up. Something was definitely up but it’s not going to change anything now. Except that AI goes back to a tv show I refuse to watch.
I truly believe Adam is better off with this result, as is Kris. I’ll buy both of their albums and can’t wait to see what they do in the years to come.
And as for people claiming Adam isn’t “out”. Adam has lived his life quite openly and in the very beginning when the pictures of he and his ex showed up all over the internet, he said “I am who am and I have nothing to hide but, this is about singing”. He’s not commenting on his personal life in the press and why should he have to? I don’t see them hounding the other contestants about their personal lives. Private and closeted are 2 completely different things IMO.
@Windyloo: Lots of posts here but I totally agree with yours. And for those that don’t think that the Christian right had a huge influence on the outcome, you are delusional. I’m still trying to figure out how out of around 100 million votes, 30+million came from Arkansas?? Of course those articles talking about this have since disappeared.

America likes safe and cupcake. Anything that deviates from the norm does not stand a chance…
He did not win because he is gay. Period. The straight cutie won, and a million teen girls phoned repeatedly to vote for him.
Not surprised.
@Daniel_Baylis
Oh no!
Somebody shine the gay symbol into the sky… we need a hero!
Kevin
Jennifer Hudson lost too remember? How’s Fantasia Barrino’s music career going?
Michael W.
That’s why Barack Obama feels safe in pretending we don’t exist. He knows America hates gay people.
JohnVisser
Before you all get too excited with rage – some close friends (ok fag hags) were pulling for Kris because he was cute and according to them he didn’t “scream” like Adam. Also, another friend (and same-sex marriage supporter) told me they were for Kris because they could see buying his first album, but not Adam’s. The general concensus has been that people liked Kris’s style – not they didn’t like Adam, but his style doesn’t appeal to the masses.
I’m not saying the fundie vote was strong, but if Adam’s sexuality was not an issue (which I know it was), I think Kris still would have won.
no 4
He lost because he’s gay…let’s use the Prejean defense.
no 4
But in all honesty who cares? I’ve never seen American Idol..LOL.
Bitch Republic
I know a ton of homos who voted for Kris. He didn’t lose because he is gay. I don’t believe for a second that his sexuality had anything to do with it.
There’s also the Southern factor. Southerners have won AI more than any other region. I think Southerners have nothing else to do but vote on AI.
Adam is very polarizing. Kris has a broader, mainstream appeal.
If DialIdol.com is to be believed, Adam lost by less than 1% of the vote.
The Gay
I don’t watch this show … In fact I’ve hated it since it started and I just want it to go away forever and ever!! … We all knew this Lambert kid wasn’t going to win, it’s the same bait and switch they always use.
Blake
With O’Reilly and other talking heads turning AI into a referendum on gay rights and every magazine under the sun running a “is he or isn’t he” cover story, we shouldn’t be surprised that the Kris fans came out in droves.
Kris seems like a nice guy, and I’m sure he’ll have a long career in Branson, MO. And on the up-side, Adam won’t ever have to sing Kara’s crappy song ever again.
fruxforte
At least they sang “We Are the Champions” before the results. At least they went out with a triumphant queer anthem.
Thomas
Colin
i got into the habit of watching this crappy show years ago and can’t seem to break out of it, even though i haven’t legitimately enjoyed a performance since melinda doolittle two years ago. i would never buy either adam’s or kris’s album, but that said:
1) adam was clearly the better singer of the two, but sometimes he was so over-the-top that it was impossible to like him, in my opinion. see his performance of “one” by u2. just awful.
2) kris is 1000x cuter than adam and has a much broader audience base.
so i’m not really surprised. i hope that adam’s sexuality didn’t have anything to do with it, but i’m sure for some people it did. the way the voting is done on AI is such utter bullshit that you can’t really take the results seriously; this isn’t the first time the better singer/performer has lost. ah well. i really thought out of all this year’s mediocrity would emerge an openly gay idol, but i still think adam will be more successful than kris.
fruxforte
Bitch Republic
Adam was frequently brilliant this season, but he was also as frequently screeching like a middle-aged woman, which was pure crap.
Tom
Rioting has broken out on the streets of Chelsea! Oh wait, Splash is just giving away free margaritas. Never mind.
Scott Howlett
Adam was great, but he didn’t lose because he is gay.
I am kind of tired of all of the drama around. He’s a rocker and Kris has more of a broader musical appeal. Plus he is cute and I’m sure he appealed to millions of girls. But that doesn’t mean that Adam was NOT chosen because he is gay. Everyone needs to chill out. This is ridiculous.
Matt
Bri
@Kevin:
another example would be Clay Aiken compared to Ruben Studdard. Except Clay is gay *and* is more sucessful.
mikebuc
Would you please quit using the word “lose”. Apparantly you haven’t been keeping up with this competition. Coming in second in Idol is hardly losing and in many instances success after the show was much greater to the runner up.
Stenar
Seriously, it pisses me off that people are trying to make this a gay issue. Adam did not lose because he is gay.
Adam led in the votes almost the entire season according to DialIdol.com. If America cared, that wouldn’t have happened.
Adam’s best performances were in the first half of the season. The second half of the season he was just coasting on his earlier laurels.
Kris peaked the last 2-3 weeks with some of his best performances coming in the past 2 weeks.
America also loves an underdog, which Kris was all season. No one once thought Kris would be in the finals, let alone win.
curt wilde
@fruxforte: ME 2! Lesbians for adam <3 lolz but in all seriousness,i relly hope he didn’t lose bc he’s gay đ
Windyloo
I think this had less to do with Adam being gay than his gender bending ways. People are way less comfortable with that. I love it and his over the topness. I think he had sass, class, and balls of steel all in a beautifully styled package, but that is way too much for a lot of people.
D-Sun
And without Simon, well, it’s not hard to imagine what would happen to the show without Simon.
roger
adam lost because the theatrical bullshit was ridiculous! sam harris never caught on in the early 80s and we don’t want it now. period.
Windyloo
I think many people do want it. I want it. I miss glam and goth and all of that big in-your-face stuff. I don’t want everything to be tame and same.
scott ny'er
well, i called this a long time ago. I didn’t think America wanted a gay Idol. Altho, Adam got pretty darn close.
Kris got Danny’s voting block.
Stenar
Okay, in Salt Lake City, Utah (reddest state in the nation), the local FOX affiliate reported that people voting on their online poll wanted Adam to win by 67%. The Mormons don’t seem to mind that Adam is gay.
scott ny'er
@Kevin: Jennifer Hudson is not very good. She got lucky. Her album is not a huge success.
Now Daughtry is a good example of someone who lost but is a hit recording artist. He’s doing amazing.
Movement Guy
I really don’t think there’s any homophobia involved. It is exactly what happened last year. David A. was anointed by the judges weeks in advance. Therefore, David C. people voted their buts off and he won.
I called it last week when Simon basically said Adam would win. Personally, I don’t like the guy, and found him shrill and irritating. Once Allison was voted off (a true injustice), I didn’t really care about the outcome.
BTW, maybe some people think Adam is a “rocker”. He’s not. Allison was a rocker. Adam was a theater queen, who liked lame ass hair-metal.
cha cha
You’re one sexy bitch Adam Lambert!
sal(the original)
@D-Sun: lol,agree with ya
Alec
Stenar
@cha cha: Actually, Adam will still be chained to “this crapfest.” American Idol’s 19 Entertainment has first rights to any recording contract for the losers. They’ll give him a contract as well as Kris… just like when 19 Entertainment gave both Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee recording contracts, even though she lost AI.
David P
Hey Bitch Republic, I too know lots of homos who voted for Kris…and it’s because Adam IS gay! Oh, they’d never admit it (actually I got two to admit it tonight). But they couldn’t put their straight-fetish aside for a f*cking night and vote for one of our own. So we can all stop blaming the fundies and point our fingers at ourselves. I could just cry.
Alec
@David P:
I could just cry.
Over this?
David P
PS. I’m glad no one seems to be bashing Kris in our grief. For a little Praise-n-Worship leader from Arkansas to have bonded with a glamazon like Adam shows some serious character. More than that homophobe Gokey.

“Why didn’t Obama do enough to support Adam Lambert?”
Alec
@Nickadoo: Kris Allen must have a super secret copy of his birth certificate. đ
Chris
AlwaysGay
Anti-gay bigotry is a manifestation of haterosexuality. Haterosexuality is the foundation of all institutional forms of discrimination.
Kris would have never won if his competition was haterosexual, we all know it. Kris forgot the lyrics to “No Boundaries” and was off key, two things that spelled doom to past contestants. This will be like the Ruben Studdard/ Clay Aiken showdown in which many people voted AGAINST Clay because they thought he was gay (he later acknowledge he is) and had no plans on buying anything Ruben made.
Alec
@Chris:
Stenar
@Chris: You’re a retard. I don’t believe people voted for Kris to make sure Adam didn’t win.
I voted for Kris because I preferred his folksy-pop style of music. I actually liked Adam’s over-the-top theatrics and at times he was quite good, but most of the time he sang too much like Axl Rose and I hate hair-metal music.
Alec
@AlwaysGay: Huh?
@Stenar: All I’ve listened to is Mad World. One of my favorite songs from my birth year, and he was quite good. But you’re right about one thing: Chris is apparently on an acid trip.
Nickadoo
I was speaking to my pastor the other day, and he told me, “Something horrible is about to happen! A homosexual might win American Idol!”
“Oh, no!” I responded, “What can we do to prevent such a thing?!”
“I recommend we vote for the handsome young guy with the hot, sexy body,” he replied.
(ba-dum-bum-crash)
Chris
@Alec: I didn’t say Adam would have changed the views of MSM or MSA or Politicians, I said that if the gay community had come together in solidarity then THAT would have shown them we are a power. Maybe this wasn’t a political arena, but the fundies sure turned it into one. And if you don’t think that the ADULTS of those conservative families didn’t call in en mass then where have you been lately with all the media focusing on Adams sexuality. And where did you hear that Christians don’t watch AI because of the name of the show?????????, I certainly have never heard that come out of anyones mouth on TV
Windyloo
I don’t vote for people because it is what I like. I vote because I think the person has more talent. I can appreciate art that is amazing that may not be what I would listen to or look at on a daily basis. NO matter what someone likes I can’t believe anyone actually thought Kris had more talent than Adam.
Chris
@Stenar: Are you only able to contribute with adolescent name calling. GROW UP I certainly won’t stoop to your juvenile level.
AlwaysGay
I agree with everything Chris wrote.
The show should be called BLAND HETEROSEXUAL IDOL.
Jeff
Kris won because of the “evangelical vote” and the “cute” factor.
Adam was defiantly the most talented of the two.
But you know AL has always been about “popularity” NOT about who’s more talented. They have said that themselves.
Adam will go on to be huge. And in 5 years Kris will still be playing Dollywood and doing Touring Companies of “Godspell”
These types of things work themselves out in the end.
Alexa
Alec
@Chris: Evangies/evangelicals are really fundamentalists who dress up in mega church garb. A huge percentage of them would recoil from AI (and not merely based on the title, which was my own lame attempt at humor).
Really, though, I think this was inconsequential. It saddens me that you are more interested in gay men and lesbians taking to the streets over this rather than, say, an anti-gay initiative. An American Idol vote is simply irrelevant, in the grand scheme of things.
@Windyloo:
The Gay Numbers
Uhm okay.
The Gay Numbers
Chris
Rasa
That’s entertainment.
MacBean
(Note: I didn’t read all the comments, and don’t have time to, so I’m not sure if anyone has said this but I wanted to bring it up.)
I MUCH preferred Adam’s voice and style but I didn’t think he could possibly lose so I didn’t bother to vote. I wonder how many votes he lost that way?
G
Well, I for one am a liberal native New Yorker and was a HUGE Kris fan. Nothing against Adam, but he was just way too theatrical for me. I know people will make it all about how America hates gays to take away from Kris’s win, which is just sad. Kris has explicitly said he wanted nothing to do with the crazy fundies who vote on religion alone. In my opinion, his win was well-deserved.
Windyloo
Chris
Josh
I do not watch Idol. I have no clue. But maybe the winner won because he was better? Maybe?
NICHOLAS
Adam did not lose because he is gay. Kris is a very talented (and verrrry cute!) – he deserved to win. Both Adam and Kris will enjoy successful careers in the music industry… and Adam is probably better off because he doesn’t have to release that god awful kara dioguardi song as his first single!
Josh
I can’t believe even gays are saying that he was too “theatrical”. Aren’t Britney, Madonna, Prince, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry etc very theatrical in their performances and concerts?
Adam has amazing vocal range and a larger than life personality. I hope he can get broad mainstream support but I’d hope at least the gay community would support him.

Isn’t it rich. Adam’s album will sell more.
Chris
Its the Gay vote Adam missed out on because gays can’t organize themselves to unite against anything.
dgz
no offense to kris — but he was behind adam in votes for basically the whole season. that means a lot of people were voting *against* adam, and not for kris. understandable, because adam’s music can be polarizing… but my natural suspicion says the gay factor was heavily in play.
betcha adam’s album sells better than kris’s. the market is already saturated with milquetoast acoustic.
Mika
This is the first American Idol season I watched. And while I enjoyed it I am probably not going to watch again. Adam was clearly the more deserving of the two but whatever I feel lame for even having having an emotion about this. Go Kris I wish you the utmost success. Adam I’m waiting on that album!
dgz
@Mika: i know what you mean. i felt lame, then i realized there precious few out male role-models who are embraced by the main stream. woulda been nice.
sal(the original)
@Mika: i hope he gets a super song,i need something diff to rock out to this year
Stenar
@Chris: @dgz: ADAM WAS EMBRACED BY THE MAINSTREAM. He led in the voting all season long, was on the cover of every mainstream magazine (how many covers did Kris get? None) and according to DialIdol.com, he only lost by less than 1% of the votes.
Joey
@NICHOLAS:
Of course he did! Christ, you voted for Kris because he’s “cute”? Really, fuck you. In 30 years when a gay man is running for President, are you going to vote for his opponent because he’s “cute”, or are you going to take a stand and support equality?
Alex
@Chris:
Chris
@Alex: BRAVO!!!
kevin (not that one)
Bitch Republic
In other news…
I swear it seemed like Kris Allen and Keith Urban would rather be kissing each other when they sang that duet “Kiss A Girl.”
Alex
@kevin (not that one):
Nitesurf
I’m not a huge fan of Idol and I only watched to see the final, but even I could see that Lambert was robbed–he has a much more dramatic and impressive voice. Kris Allen was pretty bland and unremarkable, but that’s what America wants.
Bitch Republic
@Alex: You and Chris need to lay off the drugs.
AlwaysGay
@kevin (not that one): Gay people will listen to any music that is not hostile to them. Rock and Roll is perceived to be hostile to gay people that’s why they don’t listen to it.
BTW, I loved all of Adam’s performances and a lot that he did before Idol. I always got goosebumps when he sang.
Michael W.

Lex
TANK
@kevin (not that one):
Duane
Gee, there has been a lot of bashing “bible thumpers” on the blogs tonight. Maybe these people will have to remember that next time they’re in a club dancing to something like Kim English’s “Everyday,” which is a straight up, praise-and-worship gospel song!
TANK
@Duane:
Your appropriation of the word “bashing” is repulsive, christer. Hey, when was the last time a christer gotten beaten to death because of self identified christianity, huh douchenozzle? Fucking zero=you.
Alex
@Lex:
Lex
@Alex: I hope you’re not serious. That sounds really…crazy. I think you guys are a little too obsessed with your sexuality.
It’s really not that serious. I didn’t miss any point it’s American Idol and I don’t watch it to begin with.
Voting for that kid would not have made one bit of difference in politics. Not sure how you’re even getting that from this show.
Alex
@Lex:
Like it or not, that’s how it works.

His personality is lacking but he’s a nice guy.
dgz
@scottyhouston:
unfortunately, that’s not correct. 19 entertainment has right of first refusal for all AI contestants’ contracts. adam is still strapped to the machine that has killed so many careers.

he lost because it was fixed. because bill o’reilly. the number of people who voted does not match how many watch that show.
stupid assed o’reilly watchers voted against the gay guy.

THEY KILLED HOTCH.
oops i forgot i had the caps on.

Adam had his base that voted him into the finale, but in the end the public finally got a chance to make a referendum on Adam (which it was, the view I’ve seen on most forums seems to be joy that Adam lost, not that Kris won), they decided to kick the fag to the curb for boring Kris.
rick
I would buy a Susan Boyle record before I would buy anything from some asshole that has been on american idol. they ALL sucked.
Susan Boyle can actually sing.

adam will be doing the road company of xanadu.

i am not shocked, they all sucked.
GaryG
@Alex and Chris:
Thank you both so much for putting into words what I’ve been thinking. The gay community had a chance to unite in support of Adam, and yes, as hard as it is to believe, that support could have sent at least a small ripple of change into a broader range of situations. Too bad most people seem to be of the opinion that if it doesn’t directly affect them, they can’t be bothered with it.
rick
who fucking cares about this? none of the people who have won american idol have long lasting talent. if they had actual talent they wouldn’t be on american idol. only a tiny minority buy these idiots records.
if an album is cut it will be in the reduced bin at wal mart in a couple of weeks.
adam lambert is the male liza minelli with less talent.
rick
@GaryG: so, i should have watched american idol and voted for the queer even though i do not watch fox except for the cartoons on sunday just because i myself am queer?
i listened to both of these dudes sing on the web. neither has any real long lasting talent just like no winner or loser of american idol has had.
it was a forgone conclusion that adam would lose when o’leilly did his piece on his show.
the gay freak with his stupid assed pictures all over the web lost to the xtian. big fucking deal.
i wouldn’t piss on either of them if they were on fire.
rick
the only people who care about american idol are total complete losers. and if you actually wasted the money to vote you are a double loser.
and i am totally completely right.

We have a long way to go….

Jeff
@Stenar:
Kris picked up Gokey’s Evangelical Vote.
AI is a popularity contest its really NOT about talent.
If it would have been a profesional audition Adam would have won hands down. (Unless it was for a cruise ship or Dollywood then Kris would have won)
Rob
I am sooo fracking sick of hearing “Obama didn’t do this” and/or “america isnt ready for that.” We’re a fickle people, period. So we have to work with it, through it, and/or around it, if it works. But our typical bitching and moaning does none of that
Joey
@extremegays:
Are you gay?

Why should American Idol go any different than anything else? We had a real star with experience, strength, and character, but America wanted (with a little help from Pelosi & Brazil)an American Idol President! Well, unfortunately we have one!
Swarly
I think Kris should have won because he is hotter of the two and a better performer. Adam may be able to sing better, but we learned from the whole Britney/Christina Aguilera thing that singing talent doesn’t necessarily make you the better pop star.
osocubano
Can’t say I’ve ever watched the show, but if Adam Lambert was so good he’ll get a deal somewhere.
Going on what I’ve seen on YouTube, I won’t be buying his recordings (or the other guy’s, either).
Chris
Out of two very talented people, somebody won. And that’s about it. Reading more into it is an exercise in futility.
Plus, being honost, Adam probably got the better deal because now he’s not tied to that awful “No Boundaries” song.
Windyloo
I know I made this comment up-thread last night but no one has explained how anyone could argue that Kris had more talent than Adam. I understand someone might like his style more- that is a matter of taste- but when it comes to objective standards (range and power of voice) or stage presence and the ability to capture and hold the attention of an audience Adam wins hands down. That is really the problem with the voting in these types of shows- people vote their taste. I do believe a lot of people voted against Adam, but most of the people here who say they voted for Kris did so becuase they liked his style more. That is what I have a problem with.
bobspice
@D-Sun:

Mark.of.Antares
He sucked anyways.

Prof. O. G. Whataschnozell
Dominic P. Lucarelli
InExile
@Dominic P. Lucarelli: Excellent point!!!!!!!!

Chris
@Lex:
As someone who has studied the media and worked in it as well, Alex makes very valid points. Lex, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about.
Justin
LJ
Dick
Far too gay…
Bob
Kris Allen is the next Taylor Hicks, Rubin Stuttered, or Clay Aiken.
They win Idol make aCD and disappear.
Remember Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson both lost.
Larry
I don’t really follow AI, so it’s not consequential to me, but I know gay people who were rooting for Kris because they just liked him better than Adam.
Prof. O. G. Whataschnozell
@Dick: Thank you. I would have given this queens career until next Tuesday morning before “lord, what they hell were we thinking about” settled in.
Queerky
Sam
Eh. They’re almost all gay, so who cares? I’m sure this site will be all excited if Kris ends up with the eventual “Yup, I’m Gay” People cover. Gay Aiken, anyone?
@Tom: That cracked my shit up. Also.
Rose
it doesn’t matter. his career is set and without all of the american idol rules and regs on the winners. he can do it his way now. and he will.
Rando
Bunch of drama queens.
Maybe he did not win because he is gay, maybe that isn’t the reason at all? I wouldn’t have voted for him myself.
Not every single gay person was behind Adam Lambert.
Michael W.
Broad appeal = masculine and cute
Theatrical = nelly queen
Sean
I have a hard time believing that, with the amazing progress we’ve made in recent months in terms of equality in marriage (who would have thought the only vocal opposition to a state legalizing marriage equality would be an ad so terrible that even opponents hate it?) and getting issues like DADT more exposure in the public eye, that a contestant on a song contest would get this far, only to lose solely because he’s gay.
Why do I think he lost? Because Americans have always loved the underdog. Adam Lambert has been considered the favorite for months now, and not just on sites like this one, in the main-stream media. All it takes is enough people to say “Adam will win anyway, so I won’t vote” or “Adam will win anyway, but I still want to support Kris” to yield a result that doesn’t fit what we expected, but fits with America’s “Anyone can win” mentality.
bruce
33% of the votes were cast in Arkansas, the home state of the winner Kris Allen. I think that explains everything.
RLS
My God, some of you people are so quick to play the victim. Adam didn’t lose because he’s gay, he lost because he’s too edgy and theatrical, plus Kris Allen had the 13 year old “OMG he’s so dreamy” vote locked down. Bottomline: Kris needed it more than Adam, both will have careers (though I do think Adam is more talented), and Adam Lambert doesn’t have to sing that stupid, stupid song.
BradSA
Brittany
Rob
If I went into a bar and saw both Adam & Kris, I’d be after Kris in a minute. It’s not about gay/straight, it’s about the “david bowie” factor… how much can America put up with a performer who pushes the envelope beyond Major Tom …?
Bingo
I am gay and I voted for Kris. I picked him as the winner from day one. Adam was way too clown-ish for my taste. The gay was runner-up… that’s quite an amazing result.
edgyguy1426
@Colin: Apparently Bono liked the version..so ‘just awful’ was your opinion which is yours to make, but don’t present it as fact. Say “…which in my opinion was just awful”
edgyguy1426
@Rob: But it wasn’t America’s Next Top Beefcake- it was a singing competition. Also, think: Scissor Sisters
Dr. Pedantic
Mary
Listen,
Talent is talent.
Nickadoo
@Chris & @Alex: In my opinion, the fact that anti-gay religious groups organized a vote against Adam because of his sexual orientation and that gay people didn’t speaks far less about the laziness and disorganization of gay people, and volumes about the lunacy of the anti-gay crowd.
I highly doubt that message will be lost on others.
slider
Eric
Did you forget that this show reaaly is for pre-teen girls who live in Texas, Tennessee, etc?
So, did you really think the guy-liner stuff would resonate among church goers?
Come on. The whole program is a cheesy as Ryan Seacrest’s attempt at hetrosexuality.
And, more importantly, Lambert will be fine. He can sob his way to the bank….

Kris won because the Danny Gokey fans voted for Kris because they like that type of music. It wasn’t because Adam is gay…so stop all the gay vs. christian nonsense. Not all Christians hate gays and gays are not anti-christian.
Wry Bred

That’s why Barack Obama feels safe in pretending we don’t exist. He knows America hates gay people.

Still, if there’s any consolation, at least now Adam can go out and do his thing without having “No Boundaries” on his dossier.
slider
Nelly Belle
I agree with Dick….Adam was tooo gay…

Reny, stfu. Clay didn’t write that.
Haterosexuals are coming onto gay websites today pretending to be gay and saying all these nasty things about him. Adam is the superior singer, performer and personality and always will be.
pz

@AlwaysGay: I’m not Reny but Clay Aiken really did write that blog last night.
Reny
@AlwaysGay: “Clay didn’t write that.”
It is posted on his official website, http://www.clayonline.com/, in the members-only section.

@dgz:
“38 million came from arkansas, kris’s home state.”
And how many of them voted one hundred times, I wonder? ;-P
Dr. Pedantic
Let’s move on to things that really matter.
highhorse
@Bitch Republic: that was the funniest fucking thing I’ve read all day.
Joey
@Dr. Pedantic:
Considering you betrayed the gay community this time, does that mean you’ll betray us again when a gay candidate for President comes up in the next 30 years?
Thom Freeheart
Adam lost because the pre-teen girls who make up the majority of voters like the frat boy better. It’s that simple.
emmazon
@JohnVisser: Funny the first thing that Kris said was, ‘I’m stunned, Adam should have son.”
Dr. Pedantic
@ Joey: I assume that was a joke, because if not — wow.
Joey
@Bingo:
Fuck you. Really. Gay people have lost for far too long. It’s time for us to actually WIN.
Joey
@Dr. Pedantic:
I said it in a serious manner. I mean, if he doesn’t feel the need to support a fellow gay person in the biggest contest in U.S. television history, why would he feel the need to support a gay candidate for President?
Joey
@wowjustwow:
It proves that gay people never come out on top. In the movie Philadelphia, Andrew Beckett is the hero of the movie, but he dies in the end. In American Idol, Adam Lambert made it to the end of the season, but he lost in the end. When is a gay person actually going to WIN?
Dale
whhaaaa he lost and I’m gonna play the homophobe card.
Steff
@Joey:
When is a gay person actually going to WIN?
Perhaps when people stop making such a big fucking deal about a person’s sexuality when deciding whether or not they should succeed…?
BradSA
When is a gay person actually going to WIN?
When we start to support the ones we have in the public eye instead of “gay icons” like Madonna (blechhh).
Dr. Pedantic
Joey
So you’re telling that you’d literally be willing, if a serious gay candidate emerged, to vote against them? I mean come on, we all know why all the Blacks (apart from 5%) voted for Obama, and why the majority of women supported Hillary. The fact is that we as a community need to stand together, and we’ve been doing it less and less as time goes by.

@Reny:
i think clay might be a leeetle jealous that he’s no longer AI’s most prominent queen.
and while he has a valid point, you have to understand that when you hire judges… they’re going to judge. they liked adam better. arkansas clearly disagreed (casting 1/3 of total votes). but no one complained during x-factor when the judges fawned over leona lewis, who was clearly superior to her competition.
kris won, fair and square. but that doesn’t mean that he’s better, or more deserving than someone who has dedicated their life to studying performance. a better question for clay might be: should we reward talent, or is this competition better titled “hometown hero?”
scott ny'er
@dgz: I don’t think he’s jealous just misguided.
First, he mentioned Tamyra. Who didn’t make the top 3. I loved Tamyra but America got it right, then he shouldn’t use Tamyra as an example.
2nd, I think, while it was clear the judges loved Adam, they also loved Gorkey. You can’t really blame the judges.
I also love Ring of Fire and thought it was cool.
I usually am behind Clay but not this time. I think he’s just plain wrong.
BradSA
@scott ny’er: The thing is that Clay has the unique perspective of having been through the AI mill. He knows what goes on behind the scenes and he knows the judges and the production staff personally. I think his opinion carries a lot more weight than an onlooker.
Don’t be mad that he doesn’t like Adam’s singing. There are millions of people who agreed with him including a lot of people in this thread.
Lex
@Joey: You’re an idiot.
dgz
@BradSA: his opinion wasn’t given on the AI process, it was given on the reason people voted for Kris in lieu of adam. he has no more expertise than you or me on that topic, whatsoever.
i’ll say again: regionalism. arkansas voted 38 million times. it wasn’t some grand rejection of the AI producers, as clay suggests.
BloughMee
Adam has nothing to worry about – he’ll be on tour with Queen by the end of the week, and making records next week. Kris will go nowhere and disappear into obscurity. The “Idol” crown hasn’t helped anyone xCept maybe Carrie Underwood.
Ruben Studdard?
Taylor Hicks?
Jordin Sparks?
Fantasia?
– or –
Clay Aiken

Chris Daughtry
nuff said. The place to finish is 2nd-4th. You get the exposure without any of the “idol” stereotyping.

Truth be told . People votes were as usaul bios the best Singer its Adam and Nothing else supposed to matter. I don’t really know how Chris even got this far cuz Danny its much better singer than him . booooo hooooo
goose4739
BloughMee (who has a great screen name, BTW), is right. Adam is now world-famous and lost in an upset to a cute little fundie who will make one sorry album and disappear. Meanwhile, Adam will keep going. And whether it’s in stadium appearances or piano bar at the Duplex in Greeenwich Village (probably both), he’ll still be a hit because his personality is so oversized. Meanwhile, poor li’l Kris won’t even be remembered in Branson in a couple of years.
KAREN
I am the straight single mother of a gay man, and have many gay friends, I believe Adam lost because like someone said earlier, his music is edgy, sometimes over the top for some people. I Loved him, will buy his first cd, and to tell you the truth, I believe he gets the better end of the deal because he isn’t locked in with Idol like Kris is. I will also be buying one of Kris’ albums, they are both very very talented yound men.
sheryl
CASEY
He id lose not really because he’s gay, well some of it, but because the way he looks. The old women and older collage of men and women don’t like the black hair, black clothes, eyeliner, and black nailpolish. Some people just voted for kris , so adam wouldn’t win. I know a few people who did. But the gayness is part of some of it. THIS IS A SINGING COMPETITION PEOPLE .
CASEY
@sheryl: part of it is because he’s gay , and dont try to deny it, it was, not all of it, but some. i know ALOT ALOT ALOT of people who didn’t vote for him because he’s gay.
artist
JustBinMe
There is far too much damn whinning going on! Kris and Adam both have talent. Some things that may have prevented some from voting for Adam are: Guy liner, over the top theatrics and screeching! Kris embodies the boy next door and his style is mainstream, that’s why he won! If the basis of the show was to find someone to do Liza Minelli impersonations, Adam would have won hands down! Wait for America’s Next Broaway Star!
Liam
C’mon boys and girls…or whatever you want to be. Personally, I dont care what homosexuals do in private to each other. However, I do not want my kids or my grandkids growing up thinking that a perverted sexual act between same sex parteners is “OK”. Its not ok. Its sick. Get a doctor and dont let them tell you being a fag is ok…because its not ok. Dont kill yourself, dont think you are less of a person, because you are not…you just need help…being a queer is not normal. Look at the animals around you. How many queers in a herd of cattle do you see? If being a queer were “OK” there would be queer animals…they dont exist. dont let some anthropologist tell you that they do…because they dont.
wowjustwow
dear liam.
you’re an idiot.
that is all.
schlukitz
@Liam: @Liam:
Why don’t you just go back to your tits and ass site and leave the gays alone? No one asked you for your dumb, two-cents worth.
And just for your information, homosexuality DOES occur within all of the animal kingdom. It’s a documented fact.
Do some research before you shoot your ignorant mouth off and maybe you won’t come off looking like such an a–hole the next time you troll for semi-nude, male pics here.
kimberly clark
everyone knows he lost because he’s gay and Danny threw his Christians at Kris before the final vote. If you are a Christian and you can’t admit this you are lying. Lying is a sin. Christians can go to hell for that. Better repent and start admitting the God’s truth. We all know what that is.
Beth
Sore losers what a bunch you are! Kris Allen won because more people preferred his style of singing than Adam’s. I mean I can’t imagine playing a whole CD of Adam’s screaming while driving, I’m gonna crash, man! Neither would I play it in bed, I’ll get nightmares! Adam is superb if you like his style of singing, theatrical and loud. But I’m sure those who voted for Kris Allen’s liked his soothing vocals and his ability to reach out emotionally with his songs. If you like Adam, then wait for his album and buy. Stop acting like little children!
Beth
@Mary: Simon did stand up, for a few seconds then sat down, then stood up again to congratulate Kris when he was within reach.
Goodluck to Kris Allen and Adam Lambert!
Undeniable
@D-Sun:
Undeniable
@Liam:
Keep your fingers crossed bro..better yet, don’t breed. đ
jim
Chica
Private and closeted are 2 completely different things IMO.
adamsangel
@Windyloo: Lots of posts here but I totally agree with yours. And for those that don’t think that the Christian right had a huge influence on the outcome, you are delusional. I’m still trying to figure out how out of around 100 million votes, 30+million came from Arkansas?? Of course those articles talking about this have since disappeared.
Rain
You are all lame……………..Adam Lambert ROCKS…………..
