Hey, murderers? Think you could tone things down a notch so you don’t keep giving gay porn such a bad name? Because really, it’s things like this that harm the industry, and not piss videos.
Just this spring there was the conviction of Harlow Cuadra for the murder of competing porn producer Bryan Kocis. And now former gay porn star (and we use the term “star” loosely) Timothy Boham is in trial for the 2006 gunshot murder of Denver’s John Kelso, who ran a collection agency.
Attorneys for Boham (or Marcus Allen to fans) claimed in opening arguments that Kelso killed himself in his bathtub. Prosecutors have a slightly different version of things: Boham shot Kelso in the head after a botched robbert attempt involving $400,000 in a locked safe, they claim.
Not working in Boham’s favor: The fact that he tried to flee to Mexico to avoid arrest, only to be snapped up at an Arizona border crossing.

Why is it surprising that porn models (simply cannot call them “actors”) would take to crime? Pornography operates in shadows, and inhabits the same murky world of drugs, sex and crime. And the guys working in porn come mostly from the blue-collar segments of society.

The gay porn industry thrives on disposable performers, those living on the fringe of society for whatever reason. The producers want people they can chew up and then spit out when they cant make any more money off them or (god forbid) a performer asks to participate in the huge profits.

@ggreen: Actually, the porn industry — much like the movie industry or the music industry — thrives on popular performers that the public is willing to spend money on. It’ll embrace any performer that can sell videos or internet subscriptions or generate page views. The industry only chews up and spits out performers after the fickle porn viewing public chews up and spits out the performer.

Ok class, lets all stereotype the hell out of porn today. Ready, set, go. While it is true that the main stream porn world really does thrive on disposable models and many of those models are in a very seedy world. That is just not true of all sites. Believe it or not some people actually do porn just because they simply like to do it on camera and figure they might as well be paid for it. Some porn stars honestly do like their job.

Boham did the “Marcus Allen” porn years before he killed Kelso. I don’t feel guilty at all watching it. It wasn’t the peak years that did Boham in; it was the withdrawal-times. He, like many others, couldn’t fathom such a meteoric rise and fall. People get used to a certain level of money and then they can’t do without it.
Now, I do believe he should be held accountable for this murder, and he’s in jail. So, what’s the issue?
