Peter Mullen, the Catholic preacher with ungodly views on gays – ie: we should all be tattooed – wrote yet another explanation on his comments. And he still makes no sense: “To wit: I was not criticising individual homosexuals. I have never criticized them… What I do oppose – on the authority of the Christian faith – is the corrupting influence of the promotional parades of homosexuality by such as Gay Pride demonstrations… One might say that what was once a mortal sin is now only a lifestyle choice. And the love that once dare not speak its name now shrieks at us in high camp down every high street.” [Towleroad]

He was correct about homosexuality not being a mortal sin and no longer considered “the love that dare not speak its name.” I must admit that I have witnessed and participated in shrieking in high camp down the street during Pride Parades. Though I’m pretty sure no one was corrupted.
PS – Take your “authority of the Christian faith” and shove it up your ass. That’s all it’s good for.

So, not to be rude, but WHAT is up with his face? The eye colors seem to be different, and the one is much lower than the other….did he have a face transplant? I thought that that was just experimental. Remember how much press that French woman got for being the first one, or something like that. And he’s worried about gays??? Honey, NO gay is gonna ever, ever hit on you…..

I think he overplucks the left eyebrow…

His comments read like Jane Austen satire. Physically he reminds of a Jane Austen spoof, too. But Jane Austen was writing in the 1700s wasn’t she? I hope this guy’s 15 minutes are over!

Ah, so in holier times, such a love dared not speak its name and was considered a mortal sin. Now this is no longer the case, thus the corrupting influence of such parades, encouraging people who might feel such urges to express their feelings in a loving and open way with another adult of the same sex: this is in direct contradiction to the Church’s mandate to hide whatever doesn’t conform to the status quo, and should an outlet for these feelings become absolutely necessary, then find somebody too young to understand what is going on and then blame him for your behavior, thereby securing his silence on your transgression.
Of course, that makes sense – it’s just vile beyond belief that such an authority expects people to follow its spiritual guidance.

I’ve been to a few parades, and there’s no shrieking. Lots of beads, though.

I wish we could count how many actual ‘mortal sins’ the christian church and its most faithful followers have committed in the good lords name? It would be a pretty long and devastating list i think.
Eh, just another extremist christian bigot. File under “stupidity”.

Doesn’t he understand that every time he opens his mug, he just makes it worse. What a jackass!

He looks like Lon Chaney in the Hunchback of Notre Dame crying “Sanctuary. Sanctuary.”
Wonder if he has a hump too?

He’s an Anglican (we call them Episcopalian in the US) priest, not a Catholic one. Doesn’t anybody fact check on this blog anymore?
