Well, we should all care. If this was discussed with the press before anyone knew any of the details (particularly the B on the chick's cheek), it shows that the McCain camp knew all about it when they shouldn't have. And how could that have happened unless they were involved somehow?

When this original story broke, I turned to my partner and said, "There's something wrong about this story. I think it's a hoax. I don't buy it!" No joke. I just didn't believe it.

It makes me very sad that something like this has happened, whether connected with a campaign's office or not. Someone pulling a stunt like this is goddamned atrocious, and shows that America's problem with people of different color is still alive and well.

The thing that is really sad for the McCain campaign is that one of the first blogs to question this sotry was Michelle Malkin, who is incredibly right wing. If you can't even convince your own people that the story is real it doesn't sound like your campaign has much credibility with even it's own base.
Congratulations John Mccain. You will end your carreer in a few years, not being known for your past in viet-nam, or your years in the Senate, but for running one of the most poorly organized, substanceless, dihonest, and now race baiting campaigns in history. Any claim you had to be a man of honor or integrity is now gone. You spent 30 years building your reputation and you've managed to wreck it in 6 months. Congratulations.
