Corbin Fisher And The $54K Copyright Judgment Against Ex-Performer Jake Lyons

The porn studio Corbin Fisher won a copyright infringement lawsuit against former performer and current male escort Jake Lyons, who advertising himself online as a Corbin Fisher model and using the studio’s photos, but it’s willing to set aside the $54,000 judgment if the escort donates one-tenth, or $5,400, to Equality Florida. Lyons maintained (NSFW) his men4rentnow.com profile was not set up by him, but his agent, and that Corbin Fisher officials broke into his home “so they could steal my MySpace log in, just so they could change my profile to say I lived in Orlando, when actually I lived in Wilton Manors. They changed it to say Orlando so they could sue me in Orlando federal court.”

      Ehhh, they were able to try him based on his myspace profile and not documents containing actual proof of address? Sounds a bit fishy….

      I don’t know much about being a lawyer, but are you really able to use where someone says they live on Myspace as means to take them to the proper court? I highly doubt it..

      No! By agent, I mean Porn Agent, he used to get me work with studios. I did not, nor would I, ever have a pimp. I dont offer sex for money.

      No. 5 ยท Jake Lyons wrote, “No! By agent, I mean Porn Agent, he used to get me work with studios. I did not, nor would I, ever have a pimp. I dont offer sex for money.”

      At the risk of taking the English language seriously, one should point out that Jake has in fact offered sex for money – he merely offered it to a porn company as opposed to an individual. If Jake reads this, I hope he takes it as a word-usage thing, not as a personal criticism (as the “Pirate King” said in “The Pirates of Penzance”, “compared to respectability, it is a relatively honest living.” – lots of monarchs at the time killed more people to stay in power than your typical pirate would kill during his, err, career.)

      Well if the studio is still using Jake Lynon’s pictures than he still is a model for them. If not is this whole lawsuit really over the fact that he forgot to included the word “former” which describing himself as a Corbin Fisher model? There really is no way that they deserve that sum of money, they would have to somehow prove that his use of a few pictures OF HIMSELF caused them that amount of lost revenue, which is in no way accurate.

      Still though it is pretty cool of them to drop it if he makes a $5.4K donation to a good cause

      is Queerty paying for the rights to use that photo? That’s what I don’t understand, why can a blog put up a photo like that for a story but the model in the picture gets sued for using it to sell himself? The model wasn’t attempting to make money by selling porn, he was using an image of himself to sell sex.

      @jacknasty:

      Because using a photo for news commentary is what is known as “fair use” under 17 USC Sect. 107.

      That isn’t a very flattering picture, but he is attractive. I’ve seen some of his other shots. He’s cute.
