The Dance on the Pier, the annual closing-night celebration for New York Pride Week, has seen everyone from Janet Jackson and Jenifer Lopez to Jennifer Hudson and Whitney Houston grace its stage. Now, as the highly anticipated dance moves to its new indoor home on Pier 57, Heritage of Pride has announced pop diva Cyndi Lauper will be this year’s special guest.
One number Lauper will definitely perform is “Sex is in the Heel,” a new song from her upcoming Broadway-musical adaptation of the 2005 film Kinky Boots. Lauper, a longtime ally to the LGBT community, has also been named a Grand Marshal at this year’s New York Pride parade.

Cyndi..please stop pandering to the gay community. Your career tanked, and you turned to the gays to keep your career going. We all know it. Why can’t they get someone relevant for this event? It’s always some has been – I guess Kristine W., Sharon S., and Crystal Waters were busy.

Cyndi has always been passionate about what she does. She came out with a song in 1986 called Boy Blue which was about her friend who died of AIDS. This was unheard of at the time but she did it anyway.
Her dedication to the GLBT community is genuine and honest. I have been to at least 15 of her concerts over the last 25 years and most of her crowd are Heteros. She is not pandering to anyone in the GLBT community.

Cyndi Lauper has been a gay ally since she first made her name. She hitch hiked across Canada the same year I did.

@TJ: Do us all a favor and stay the fuck home asshole! We don’t need your negativity. Cyndi can do whatever she wants.

@TJ: Now seating an angry bitter lonely gay for one.

You’re confusing Cyndi with Madonna. Cyndi has been there for us since the beginning.
TJ
Wow, so angry! She panders to the gays, just like Ricky Martin, Lance Bass, etc, etc.

Congrats Cyndi! You’re a true LGBT ally!
