D.C. Cleans Up The Homeless
Under the guise of a “security sweep,” and not a “beautification measure to make things look nice for the camera.” [The Caucus]
Under the guise of a “security sweep,” and not a “beautification measure to make things look nice for the camera.” [The Caucus]
Actually, it does sound like it is a legitimate security sweep. I was in Atlanta when they cleaned up the homeless for the 1996 Olympics and can attest to how a real “clean-up” measure goes. One quietly implemented strategy was:
1. Offer a free Box of Krispy Kremes to homeless person if he or she will get on a bus (allegedly) for a commercial
2. Do not allow them to leave the bus until they are in Alabama
3. Give them a cordial goodbye and speed off
That was only one of a handful of tactics. And yes, I am a very bad person for still being amused by it. :[
