William Friedkin (The Exorcist, Cruising) directs this adaptation of Tracy Letts’ play about a young bumpkin that employs a sleazy cop (Matthew McConaughey) to kill his mother. Of course, that plan doesn’t go so well. McConaughey has delivered some truly out-there performances this year, and this is one of the best. Extras include a commentary by Gina Gershon, a stage-to-screen featurette, and a cast Q&A conducted at SXSW, and more.
