Forget the Gays. Idol Is Rockin’ The Trans

You think Adam Lambert was breaking boundaries by being (mostly) openly gay on American Idol? Then you haven’t been watching Brazilian airwaves. There, Ídolos features 20-year-old contesant Lívia Mendonça, a transgender gal who made it though the first round of auditions. No, we had no idea what the Simon-Paula-and-(really gay-ish)-Randy imitations were telling her, but they made her cry. Happy tears.

Obrigado, Queerty. Thanks for bring such amazing talent to our notice. She definitely has a Maria Bethania quality to her voice and also it’s great to see her mom supporting her and by her side as she auditioned.

Cool for this chick. And for Idol.

But, let’s get to the really good stuff. Who’s the dude in the green shirt at the end. What a Rockin’ hard body.

German Idol has had two trans contestants in the Top Ten in two different seasons. And there has been at least one LGBT (including two winners and one runner-up) contestant in the Top Ten in EVERY season so far.

      Yeah. Just saying *lol*
