The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force sent out a press release last night informing us – and everyone else – that Rea Carey has been named the non-prifit’s new executive director. Carey takes over for Matt Foreman, who left earlier this year and under whom Carey worked for four years.
Fresh Blood.

This is fantastic! I love Rea and I had suspected that she would be the one chosen for the job. She’s certainly one of the most passionate, driven and intelligent women I’ve met– a true gift to the movement.
Congratulations!

Matt Foreman kind of lost a lot of my respect when he more or less said that AIDS was a gay disease not so long ago. Not only did he provide ample fodder for the anti-gay crowd, but such a statement is gravely erroneous and very dangerous (could lead to heterosexuals thinking they are free from infection, which is untrue). Let’s hope Rea Carey is more articulate!
