Just when we thought reality television couldn’t sink any lower, TLC, the network responsible for such small screen gems as 19 Kids And Counting, Sarah Palin’s Alaska, and The Man With The 132-Pound Scrotum, has announced My Husband’s Not Gay, a television special about gay Mormon men who have chosen to marry women.
That’s right, gay Mormon men who have chosen to marry women.
The special will follow couples three couples living in Salt Lake City — Curtis and Tera, Jeff and Tanya, and Pret and Megan, as well as a 35-year-old bachelor and missionary named Tom–as they navigate through the struggles of being in sham, er, unique marriages.
Here are some highlights from the trailer:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
- “With our faith in God we believe we believe we can overcome anything!”
- “I like to say I’ve chosen an alternative to an alternative lifestyle.”
- “I’m interested in men I’m just not interested in men.”
- “I get a little defensive when somebody calls my husband gay.”
Don’t believe us? See for yourself.

You can pretend for a while; but, your true nature ALWAYS comes out. It is sad to see anyone hide their light.

I used to hook up with a Mormon who is married with 5 kids in Ogden UT.

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. Freaks of nature should NEVER be exploited on national TV!

Undoubtedly, some of these men fight their urges by doing what Mormon ex-Senator Larry Craig did by frequenting airport men’s rooms and tapping his foot under the stall partition.

I’ve been in a relationship for over four years with a middle aged Mormon grandfather. He does not consider himself gay but (unless he’s lying) we had more sex in 2014 than he did with his wife and he made it clear from day one he would never leave her. The amount of compartmentalizing he goes through is impressive if also annoying. He wants to have the cake and suck the frosting out of it.

@Alan down in Florida: Sounds like your making it easy for him though. You’re akin to his Mistress.

I’ve met a married couple like these people. The husband set off my gaydar and after a few conversations with his wife, she decided to reveal that he only has sex with her to make babies. Not sure if they were Mormon or not. I didn’t really care to know about their screwed up arrangement.

For many years gay men in the Mormon church were counseled by the church leaders to pursue marriage because marriage would make the gay go away. Been there, had 27 years of marriage that was far from fulfilling, but we did our duty as Mormon members. Sadly, that became one of the worst social experiments by the LDS church that led to thousands of divorces and broken homes.
Now days, the official stance by the LDS church is total celibacy instead of marriage, however, the tradition of inter-orientation marriage continues due to cultural and family pressures. Too many mom and dads can’t face the congregations if their son or daughter has anything different than a hetero marriage. Sad, because as has been pointed out by other commenters, the gay spouse is often found roaming and hunting for sexual satisfaction elsewhere.

Didn’t Angels in America include a story-line like this?

Or you know…they’re bi-curious or bisexual? Unless the writer of this article is one of those idiots who thinks bisexuality in men ‘doesn’t exist’ (funny how the people who preach such bullshit never have anything credible to back such a claim up?). Anyways, women are free to compliment each other on their looks & body all the time & hardly anyone ever bats an eye. No one accuses them of being lesbians, to the rest of the world it’s perfectly okay for women to acknowledge other women as attractive, hell it’s even mostly accepted (and encouraged in the media and other places) for women to be bi-curious or full on bisexual and experiment with other women. Well, men are capable of acknowledging attractive men too. Men are capable of being just a little bi-curious or full on bisexual. We need to stop looking at men’s sexualities as if they’re so completely black & white.

Of course its on TLC

Watch his face when he tries to remember how long he’s been married. He looks so defeated, and sad.

@Alan down in Florida: Doesn’t really seem like a “relationship”. Sounds like he’s just good in the sack. It’s your life and it’s your choice; it just doesn’t seem very satisfying to me.

@robho3: TLC – The Leering Channel
OzJosh
Get any of these guys away from home and give them five minutes with an even halfway attractive guy and we’ll see how NOT gay they are.

I think TLC needs to drop the L, and just be The Channel.
