GLAAD Report Forces Stephen Colbert to Realize: He’s Gay

Because of the way GLAAD scored its Network Responsibility Index, The Colbert Report was “not singled out for intolerance.” However did this mistake happen?

Probably because somebody on his staff is a homosexual, which gives shows an automatic pass. Was it this guy?

I am so sick of GLAAD. We need a new gay-friendly organization that is more objective in its observance of our representations in media. GLAAD has given so many awards to MTV, it’s shocking. MTV plays homophobic rap, hip-hop, Eminem…you name it.

MTV is one of the most homophobic media organizations in America and yet GLAAD keeps giving it awards.

@TonyD: Why does everyone always say Mtv doesn’t play music videos anymore? They do…they have one channel that plays horrible, degrading, stupid-as-sarah-palin-reality shows and something like 3 channels that plays music 24/7…one for hip-hop videos, one for pop, etc. Vh1 is the same…one channel for mind-numbing reality shows and 3 for music (soul, classic 80′s etc.) If that’s not enough for you, there’s Fuse, which also plays music 24/7. Of course I get most of my music from Youtube now but there’s more music than ever before, everywhere you look!

If you are in Canada, and like me, can never get a proxy server to work properly, here is the Comedy Network link.

I still don’t believe Mtv is responsible for anything beyond pop culture trash and reflecting back attitudes and trends among tweens that aren’t already out there; they’re not an arts and culture channel, far from it. The use of terms like, “fag” and “homo” are blatant and as a resent former high school teacher they’re not going away if we sugar coat or make fluffy cutesy characters on tv- kids are mean and not stupid. You got to face the challenge head on, and I’m happy Mtv does that and doesn’t ignore the dirty part of it. The LGBTQ gets bullies. We get death threats. We get beaten up just because of who we are! Is it cutesy? Hell no? Do we get “special protection” as some want the world to believe? No! I’m glad Mtv exposes that- it’s not their place to teach. It’s yours and mine. So start. I’m getting my PhD in academic admin. Teachers don’t get enough credit. lol
