'I begged to … have them let me do a nude scene'

SOUNDBITES — "I begged to … have them let me do a nude scene, but they wouldn't, they just wouldn't. I said, 'Well, it's a comedy and I'll get laughs, I guarantee it!'" —The Proposal star Betty White, "grumbling" that only Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock got to strip down [LAT]

While I don't doubt that what she says is true, and while I LOVE Betty White (like ultimate diva from Mama's Family to Golden Girls to Golden Palace to pretty much everything else she has ever done worship), please for the good of humanity, never let Betty White be nude on film. It would be like seeing my grandmother naked, and I would be scarred for life.

Did you know that Betty White originally wanted to be cast as Blanche on GG?

SWEETDOG- she was offered the part of Blanche, and Rue McClanahan was offered the part of Rose. White felt that Blance was too similar to Sue Ann Nivens, her character on "The Mary Tyler Moore" show. Likewise, Rue felt that Rose semed too much like Vivian, her character on "Maude". So rather than repeat themselves, they decided to swap parts. It worked out fine, as both ladies bagged Emmys.
Betty IS a treasure. She's one of those people who ALWAYS makes me smile.
