Martina Navratilova Won’t Be Making It To The Top Of Mt. Kilimanjaro This Week

Martina Navratilova thought she’d celebrate her $3 million divorce settlement with Toni Layton by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Sorry. Ain’t gonna happen.

It’s not any complications from her breast cancer treatment. Rather, the 54-year-old tennis star (seen here on Day 4 of the treck) was diagnosed with high-altitude pulmonary edema, or an accumulation of fluid in the lungs. It’s keeping her in a Kenyan hospital rather than ascending Africa’s largest peak, which she attempted to raise cash for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. She made it to 14,800 feet before having to turn back after feeling ill.
