Big changes at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Executive Director Matt Foreman announced that he'll leave the non-profit for the San Francisco-based Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund.

[Foreman] will step down in April to lead the Gay & Lesbian Program at the Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund. Foreman has led the Task Force for five years and helped propel the organization to national prominence as an outspoken and unwavering advocate of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.The Haas, Jr. Fund, located in San Francisco, provides more grant support to LGBT organizations than any non-gay-identified foundation in the nation.
Task Force co-chair Matt Sexton highlights some of Foreman's main accomplishments: "Our staff grew to 54 full-time positions and our budget more than doubled to nearly $10 million."

And just WHO was responsible for the passage on a non-transgender inclusive ENDA in NY State when he headed ESPA ? The same Matt Foreman. ANd he gets all high and mighty when HRC does the same thing…..Face it , he did what he needed to do poilitically when he was in the hot seat in NY. Now he's cashing in by going to a private charity. Very admirable.
Matt is one of my personal heroes. He's brilliant, articulate and has a pretty terrific win list.

look at the data: a cursory examination of the financials of the task force vs the Haas foundation shows a greater than 2x average staff salary at the Haas foundation. People dont leave the top job for a lower, less visible one without some other compensation.
Exactly, Arealpilot – I'd like to see the ever loser Hells Kitchen, do a better job.
Matt Foreman is to be congratulated for helping lead and strengthen resistance to the efforts of Pelosi, Frank and their Republican cousins to gut ENDA and for his willingness to call an ass an ass.
He'll be missed at the helm of NGLTF as GLBT folk campaign to have a real ENDA passed, DADT and DOMA repealed and push for the Mathew Sheppard Hate Crimes Act.
