Meg Whitman Is Out Of Step With Californians On Gay Marriage

Last week (such old news, I know!) Meg Whitman made what was apparently her first morning show appearance during her California gubernatorial campaign. There, she reiterated her unwavering support for marriage discrimination. Fun fact: More Californians disagree with her than ever before. [via Change.org]

Sadly, she isn’t that out of step with the voters.

And here we go again with the misleading, overly optimistic polls. Americans always talk like a Democrat and vote like a Republican. Among the 51% that approve of same-sex marriage are apathetic stoners who would rather play with their Playstation than vote, weak willed soccer moms who will change their mind when the first NOM anti-gay negative ad goes on the air, and religious types who will be swayed by their priests. Not to mention the liars who don’t want to go “on record” as supporting bigotry.

73% of voters in Washington state supported some legal recognition of same-sex relationships in 2007. But when domestic partnerships was voted on in 2009, it only passed 53 to 47 percent (a margin of only 6%).

When Obama ran for president in 2008, over 75% said they wanted DADT repealed. When CNN asked them the same question a few days before the House of Representatives was scheduled to actually vote on it, that support had plunged to 58%.

Don’t trust the voters anymore than you would the politicians.

I don’t know who is dumber – Ms EBay or the voters who are allowing her to put a Buy It Now button on the job of being governor….

Did California vote down same sex marriage? I’d say Meg Whitman is in the mainstream on this. She could very well succeed the one who vetoed marriage equality twice.

ALL Californian LGBT should inform their allies, friends and other misguided LGBT friends to vote Jerry Brown, who amongst seeing gay rights as human rights also had far more experience and know how than this woman who is LITERALLY buying her way up to this position. We don’t not need another rich person who corruptly paid their way to office to run this state that is in a very sensitive place. VOTE/support and fund the Jerry Brown campaign!
