Each week, Queerty picks one blowhard, hypocrite, airhead, sanctimonious prick or other enemy of all that is queer to be the Douche of the Week.

Monsignor Kevin Wallin, a prominent priest and pastor at St. Augustine’s Cathedral in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was indicted this week for allegedly taking part in a crystal meth ring.
If that wasn’t strange enough, “Msgr. Meth,” as he’s been affectionately dubbed, used to take part in some kinky sexual practices in the rectory.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
While [he was] pastor of St. Augustine’s, sources said he often disappeared for days at a time; and rectory personnel became concerned and notified diocese officials when Wallin, sometimes dressed as a woman, would entertain odd-looking men, some who were also dressed in women’s clothing and engaging in sex acts.
In addition, diocese officials found bizarre sex toys in Wallin’s residence, the sources said.
And you thought you were kinky, Father Tom Donovan.
Wallin was relieved of his duties in May 2012, at which point he was free to pursue his true passion, namely sex shops and meth:
In his post-priesthood, Wallin, 61, bought an adult specialty and video store in North Haven called Land of Oz that sells sex toys and X-rated DVDs. Investigators believe the shop helped him launder thousands of dollars in weekly profits.
According to his indictment, Wallin was moving upwards of $9,000 of meth in a week. He was arrested on January 3 after a joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force:
Wallin was charged conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine and 50 grams of actual methamphetamine and six counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
He faces a minimum prison term of 10 years and a maximum prison term of life and a fine up to $10 million on the conspiracy count and a maximum term of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million on each of the possession charges.
Diocese officials said they had no information indicating that Msgr. Meth was pushing drugs while a pastor at St. Augustine’s.
“News of Msgr. Kevin Wallin’s arrest comes with a sense of shock and concern on the part of the Diocese and the many people of Fairfield County who have known him as a gifted, accomplished and compassionate priest,” said Brian Wallace, director of communications for the Diocese of Bridgeport.
One of those people was Maria Spencer-Fonseca, a long-time parishioner at St. Augustine. “There is an evil invading our world and it has come to our church,” she said Thursday. “This was a work of evil—and I am praying for the monsignor.”
All together now: What a douche!

It has come from your church, because of your religion and beliefs.
It isn’t the fault of anyone but you and your cult. Deal with it like actual people for a change.
Ruhlmann
I love shit like this.

Evil invading the world? Really? It’s truly mind-boggling that people still believe in this nonsense. Catholics, clergy especially still believe there is such a thing as the devil, and they think there is something intrinsically evil and disordered in gay sex? What about the centuries old tradition of pedophilia, misogyny and celibacy, all intrinsically disordered in my view. What a bunch of hypocrites. Stupid too!

All I’m going to say is… I WAS RAISED IN THE WRONG RELIGION.

The republicans of the US altered state boundaries with the sole purpose of eliminating large democrat voter bases, also a campaign of violence and misinformation against democrats all over the US.
It makes Obama’s and sanities victory all the sweeter knowing they got decimated WHILE CHEATING AND LYING AND FRAUDING. They still took a massive pasting.
Dawster
@Charli Girl: honestly, the systematic methodology of putting a person in a weaken state in order to have sex with them has been going on in religion for centuries whether it’s using communion wine or psychologically beating them down with biblical wordplay until the person enveneratedly agrees to whatever.
In more specific religious history: It’s the reason we have Mardi Gras.
hudson
@Ruhlmann: i know, right. its hard to even make this shit up.
Charli Girl
@Dawster:

Being gay, being celibate and trying to be a Catholic Priest is a very difficult juggling act. I went into the Catholic seminary as a very over-weight, gay and virginal young man who really felt a calling to the priesthood. After being given the nickname of “Tiny” by one of the Priests living at the Seminary, my self esteem hit another new low. Seminaries are full of self-loathing, mean and closeted seminarians and Priests. I worked with and served many Masses with Priests who were overtly gay behind the scenes of the regular Parish life. I managed to lose 100 lbs while in the Seminary, found a whole new world of friends in college, redeemed my self-esteem and got my ass out of there as fast as I could.

Surely there are others who rise to the level of “douche of the week” in far greater fashion than this guy… no?

@queertypie: Good For You
nastyboy
and I MISSED this, in my own back yard??? DAMMIT
WayDifferent
Yeah, so a priest was caught. A drop in the bucket compared to the non-religious gays slinging drugs near any gay bar. Go after them to have a real impact on the troublesome problems in the gay communities.
WayDifferent
@Dawster: It’s been going on in gay bars and by bartenders themselves for decades too! You can just substitute the religious angle of it with politics.

I always wondered what was really in the Catholic Eucharist……I knew they couldn’t just be crackers! Now we know….it was Meth.
