Supporting Gay Marriage: Another PR Opportunity for Kathy Griffin

Kathy Griffin would be a nobody without her base: the gays. So it was good to see her speaking at an anti-Prop 8 rally yesterday in Sacramento. Of course for Griffin, everything is a publicity opportunity, which explains why her camera crew was in tow. Some of us love the woman; others find her grating. Either way, she’s done much to bring visibility to gay rights, even if she’s managing to cash in on it.

KG is great as always, but is anyone else getting REALLLLLY tired of the shit-quality-audio and shot-from-the-audience amateur videography all over youtube? I mean really, if all you can hear clearly is audience noise, why bother? Maybe lip-reading lessons…hmmmm.

We ARE a minority, so it’s gonna take some of the evolved majority to rattle some sense into some of their peers if anything’s gonna change. Considering (cliche, yes, but so so true) that we dress & style & script all of Hollywood, the fuckin celebs should be actually fighting over who can be the first to speak out on our behalf. YOU GO, GIRL. Thank you for speaking the truth & spreadin the love.

Forgive the bad pun, but Bravo! Kathy Griffin…..she is fierce and her speech should be used as a basis for all our civil rights that we are denied….Does anyone know when she gave the speech…..The NO on 8 forces should have used Kathy Griffin a lot more during the campaign instead of after the fact……I also think the NO on 8 leadership acted more like divas then organizing from the grass roots on up and using a neighborhood by neighborhood approach to involve everyone (stories of the leaders fighting and going on vacation and acting like divas instead of doing the grunt work and day to day ground game operations grass roots level hurt a lot. I think too many assumed that marriage equality would have happened….However, with the loss it seems to have galvanized our community to say “we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it any more” and to be pro active…plus, we also need to be every where and make sure we have str8 allies and friends, neighbors, co workers, family, et….Harvey Milk got it right when he said the more of us who come out the better we are since it is harder to discriminate against us by those who know us every day and work with us, live with us in the same neighborhoods and know we want the same things everyone else does……Kathy Griffin said it extremely well….She made me laugh, cry and smile and gives me hope that we shall achieve the same civil rights as everyone else….time to energize and organize and don’t stop….we have just begun to fight….thanks Kathy Griffin you are fierce!!
