“They don’t look like Presbyterians to me,” says Fozzie Bear when he discovers the Electric Mayhem rocking out in an old church in The Muppet Movie.
But what do Presbytarians look like?
Well, they look like a group of people struggling to reconcile old prejudices and undeniable momentum: Last week the church’s governing body rejected approving same-sex marriage, but by the narrowest of margins. Young leaders, who overwhelmingly support equality, may have lost this round. But we’ve seen this tipping point play out enough times now to know what comes next.
That and other headlines (Supreme Court! Prop 8! Oregon!) constitute the week’s most important marriage equality news. Pull up a chair and learn!
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Booo hooo. Meanwhile in Iran, they just executed 3 gay men for sodomy. How about you report on that Queerty? Or are you too much of a coward to deal with facts. I don’t appreciate being dealt hatred on one side of religion if you aren’t man enough to fuck the other side. Shame.

I was at the Assembly, and voted on that. It was a difference on 3%. Last meeting was 10%, and 4 years ago, there would have barely been 10% in favor.
In 2014, it will be passed. Guaranteed.

@alanocu: Iran has it bad. There are a lot of gay Muslims hurting in that country, but you know what…most Muslims (even the gay ones) that live in extremist nations hate the people in America for living in America rather they are gay or straight, black or white, puppy or kitten, etc… So, I have a hard time finding sympathy for the citizens of a nation that would gladly blow up the United States.
That being said, I am more concerned about my human rights, and the pain that people can go through when they are denied the right to legal recognition of the ability to partner with the person that they choose in many cases is as bad as death if not worse.

@alanocu:
My guess is this is the thread where we bring up stuff completely irrelevent to the story…. in which case, Do you know how many people end up in the Emergency room due to ingesting too much caffeine? The Food and Drug administration should require labels to tell people saying how much caffeine is in any given product and you’d be surprised what it goes in!
That aside, don’t really see the relevance of Iran to this story, but if you need a case of raid to kill that giant bug that’s crawled up inside you, hit me up – I’ll see if I can get you wholesale price.
