Sam Smith did the gays proud at the 56th annual Grammys last night, walking away with four trophies and the show thanks to a stirring performance with Queen of Hip-Hop Soul Mary J. Blige. Let’s take a look at some of the moments that gave life and gave pause.
Here are the 15 gayest and greatest moments from the 2015 Grammy Awards.
Tony Bennett’s vs. Lady Gaga‘s reaction to opening act AC/DC
Ariana Grande being the cutest pop star alive
Noted silver fox Tom Jones and his sequined tux
Nicki Minaj barely tolerating new BFF Miley Cyrus
Madonna‘s human leg brace
The Grammys clearly didn’t listen to the song they nominated Jennifer Hudson for — this is her video for “Walk It Out.”
Annie Lennox taking Hozier to church…and then school. Hope he was taking notes.
Rihanna delivering her first solid live performance, well, ever. Also, this smoking, though.
Speaking of couture, can we talk about Kim K’s shoulders?
These two queens shutting everything down.
The moment Beyoncé realized she’s going to have to choke a bitch.
The moment we realized Kanye might actually have a sense of humor. But not really.
Kristen adding another Wiig to Sia’s performance.
Sam Smith winning his fourth Grammy and throwing the best shade in the world.
Bey conjuring up the Holy Ghost to smite the Recording Academy.
Les Fabian Brathwaite, much like Diana Ross, has never won a competitive Grammy.

@Random:
Ohh My God wasn’t she. I was so crying during her performance.
Desert Boy
For the first time in years, the Grammys rocked. Great performances. Sam Smith, Ac/DC, Rhianna, Katy Perry, Annie Lennox and Queen Bey.

I was at the movies with a friend so we missed it! Oh well, that’s why we have YouTube.
Blackceo
Loved the Kanye West bit and the reactions of Jay and Bey. Then there was that rant on the E After show which low key a lot of artists were thinking but wouldn’t dare say. It’s Kanye tho.
Mary J Blige does not age. That’s that good “black don’t crack”. Flawless in that black dress.Loved she and Sam Smith’s duet. Apparently, Sam Smith and his new bf are already over. Sir Paul, Rihanna (stepping out of her Quinceanera dress) and Kanye were great. Annie Lennox still has it, Prince is the only superstar musician I’ve seen who can make other superstar artists of all genres act like giddy stans whenever he graces us with his presence. Ecstatic that Pharrell’s “Happy” won a Grammy. It was such an int’l phenomenon that song and so uplifting and deserved recognition. The end with Queen Bey and John Legend with Common singing Glory was great. Overall, pretty good although I did have to leave it during the 9pm hour for The Walking Dead and the Dowager Countess.

I wish I had watched now, but I couldn’t get past the opening act.
Congrats to Sam Smith! Your wins were well-deserved.
Why was Nicki Minaj barely tolerating Miley Cyrus one of the gayest moments of the Grammys? I’m all for not tolerating intolerance, but otherwise I don’t think intolerance should be celebrated as a good thing.
boring
The Gloria Gaynor/Aphex Twin debacle is the only hilarious moment I know of because it’s the only part of the Grammys I watched.

@boring: What Gloria Gaynor/Aphex Twin debacle? I must have missed that.
lykeitiz
@Alan down in Florida: Me too, & I thought I saw the whole show.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
What is absolutly amazing is that Sam Smith is out and proud at the beginning of his career Gone are the days when a celeb had to wait until the twilight of their career to admit who they are……….
The majority of the voters for the Grammys are older and the fact that Sam can sweep the majority of the major awards is silly good news.
As his name was announced for each win, I was picturing the glorious sounds of rightwing nutbag hate filled bigots heads exploding across the fruited plains………… :p

I’m no expert on pop music, so can anyone tell me if Pharrell has recorded anything besides that “Happy” song. I think I heard it 3 or 4 times on the show.

Jennifer Hudson FEATURING R. KELLY? Pass on that shi†.
