In what’s believed to be a world first, the postal service in Austria, where gay marriage is illegal but “registered partnerships” are available to gays, will issue the first stamp to commemorate gay pride, arriving on Vienna’s 15th annual gay pride celebration. The stamp is worth 72 cents, reads “rainbow parade,” and will be available July 3 — approximately two years after all the world’s gays ditched that wretched institution known as “snail mail” and began sending their pool party invites via services like PaperlessPost. But still, it’s a nice gesture.

That’s pretty cool.

Yes, it is a nice gesture.
I wonder if I will live long enough to see something like this from the USPS.
Does anyone know if there is a campaign underway for the USPS to issue a commemorative Harvey Milk stamp?

It will probably choose to shutter it doors before that happens. LOL

Celebrate “separate but equal”!
/it’s good enough for you people.

@the crustybastard: I’m sad to say that it’s not even a case of separate but equal in Austria. It’s a case of separate but mostly equal. According to a Eurobaromoter poll, which is carried out for the European Union, support for marriage equality is 49% in Austria.

Whilst it is a good gesture an even better one would be full marriage rights as I am sure many of you will agree.
