The Eagle application was forwarded, by a volunteer, to the local council but it was not approved because this young man proactively stated that he does not agree to Scouting’s principle of ‘duty of God’ and does not meet Scouting’s membership requirements. Therefore, he is not eligible to receive the rank of Eagle.”
— Boys Scouts of America spokesman Deron Smith, responding to the Mount Diablo chapter’s approval of openly gay ex-scout Ryan Andresen’s Eagle badge, via Pink News.

Screw them. Like there are no athiests, agnostics or gays in scouting.
This guy has proved himself to be so much better than they are.

This young man embodies everything that scouting is all about. Screw the BSA – Ryan, you are so far above these losers at the national office it is not even funny. Congratulations on your wonderful achievement!

How can anyone who doesn’t believe in god be considered lesser. Here are great, moral people who help people without the need for a poker up their arse.
We are far better people than the religious lunatics that pervade the space of actual humans every day.

The largest number of scouting chapters are through the Mormon and the CAtholic Churches. The Scouts will always default to their bigotry.

Don’t these religious fanatics realize how ridiculous they look. My question
is “Are boy scouts of America tax exempt?” If so, it should obviously be revoked!
