Bryan Singer fired from Queen biopic after on-set chaos

Out director Bryan Singer has been fired from the Queen film Bohemian Rhapsody.

Twentieth Century Fox, the studio behind the big-budget flick, made the announcement.

“Bryan Singer is no longer the director of Bohemian Rhapsody,” the studio said in a statement.

Just last week, the studio announced that production had been suspended due to Singer’s “unexpected unavailability.”

Many thought this reasoning seemed fishy, as reports said that Singer and actor Rami Malek, who plays Freddie Mercury, feuded on set.

The trouble began when Singer was absent from production on several occasions. Cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel had to step in when Singer was a no-show.

Malek, who’s made a name for himself as the star of the hit USA series Mr. Robot, complained to Twentieth Century Fox about Singer’s behavior.

The tension built up to an on-set confrontation between the actor and director, which reportedly involved Singer throwing an object. The two then attempted to come to an agreement and continue on with the job.

But then Thanksgiving rolled around, and after the break, Singer did not return to the set with the rest of the cast and crew.

This was the last straw for the studio heads, who opted to terminate him under his pay-or-play contract.

Another insider tells the Hollywood Reporter that Singer claims to be suffering PTSD after the tense on-set atmosphere. Yeah… the same tension he himself created by being a complete flake while people’s livelihoods and careers were on the line. Classic.

The studio is expected to name a replacement to carry out the short remaining filming schedule.
